Soundwave 2016

Soundwave died 14 months ago when they announced the average lineup over 2 days for the 2015 festival.

this is very true.

last year's SW, whilst still good, was not as good as it could have been, purely because of the two day setup..

not everyone could make the two days, which left people frustrated that they missed out on some of the bands..

and for those who could go both days, it makes for a VERY expensive weekend (not to mention tiring by the end of it..)

oh.. and not having any trains running to the melbourne one last year was stupid..

So basically this AJ f**kwit rolled in, murdered BDO by stealing all the good bands by offering huge pay days, bought out the BDO to make his rock festival a monopoly, then promptly shit all over everyone by never paying a single band and then selling thousands of tickets to a 2016 event which essentially amounted to him just posting random bands on his website (that he'd not actually booked) for concerts around the nation (at venues that he'd never even contacted). Then as a final "f**k you" he is keeping all the money from ticket sales and blaming his failure on the festival goers.

This guy is the world's biggest douche

Not surprised.

I laugh at the fan boys of AJ back on the soundwave forums who used to suck up his arse for 'knowing who the bands are' and still believe every shit covered word the Wanker says. The fact he can't have a decent working relationship with bands and their managers (way back in 09) is a bad sign for a festival. It was always destined to finish.

I'm actually more devestated the bloke rolled in and killed off BDO. Now that was an Australian institution.

Seems to be my understanding of the situation. What a f*cktard.

Soundwave was a festival I looked forward to. Didn't go to this years, due to the two day thing and not enough worth seeing.
2016 has been a disaster from the get go, no real big announcements, just drip feeding announcements with nothing worth the cost of tickets.

Still it's a shame its ended like this. Australia needs festivals like this.
If Maddah wants to know who's to blame, he's only got to look in the mirror for the answer.
Best of luck to those who pre-ordered tickets on getting a refund. What a fuster cluck all round.

AJ rorted the gullible with the Soundwave Society as well

That was always an obvious rort. A loyalty card for a f**king music festival. His teenage fangirls on twitter lapped up whatever shit he threw at them though, still do.

I reckon something will pop up within a couple of years, there's a big market for metal and alternative heavy music here. Hopefully AJ has nothing to do with it.

LOL at all the BDO love.

When the BDO returns you guys will rejoice for two seconds before you realise AJ has the option to walk back in the door whenever he wants for $1.

Well hopefully some of the metal bands start to tour together again like they did pre-soundwave.

One of my favourite gigs ever was Killswitch Engage with Lamb of God, Unearth and I Killed the Prom Queen in 2006.

I didn't think AJ had any rights to BDO anymore?

Just make it like they did in the first year, it was awesome, just a small festival with 2 stages. Or have it like No Sleep Til. One stage for punk, one for metal.

He gave them up for $1 and has the option to buy them back whenever he wants for $1.

Reading up on it now and the articles state he had the right to buy back in for $1 in time for the 2016 festival.... which obviously isn't going to happen. Can't find anything that states the deal has no end date on it.

All the articles surrounding the $1 sale and buy back deal are only confirmed by quotes from Maddah himself, while also assuring people in the next breath that Soundwave as a festival is in a great financial position.... so its a bit tough to believe what he says really

And there's nothing that says the option relates only to 2016, only that they had an expectation they would be back up and running in 2016.

No Sleep Til was alright, but that f**king weekend sucked with the rain and shit. Suicide Silence was my fav of the day!
