Are you guys for real? 2010 Soundwave is one of the most awesome festival line-ups in this country that I can remember. This years was good but 2010 is better.

Faith No More - one of the best metal/alternative bands of the last 20 yrs
Clutch - one of the best live bands I have seen
Anthrax - legendary thrash
Isis - Awesome post metal
Meshuggah - brutal
Baroness - check em out if you dig bands like Mastodon
Eagles of Death Metal - fun rock and roll

And heaps more

Not sure what everyone is complaining about that is my moneys worth just in those 7 bands. I am more worried about time clashes.

You're the first person I've heard speak so poorly of it. Most people I have spoken to reckon it's the best lineup they've ever had, I tend to agree.

Faith No More is the best headliner they've had BY A MILE. What isn't there to love with a performance like this?

The guy is an unbelievable performer, even if you aren't a fan of their music.

best lineup was this years: face to face, anberlin, goldfinger, less than jake, funeral for a friend, alkaline trio, houston calls, finch, saves the day, red jumpsuit apparatus, new found glory, riverboat gamblers, billy talent.....i missed out on seeing like 4 of these bands due to clashes :( but still best day.

however this year is so good too. im gonna be heartbroken when the timetables come out tho lol.

Red Jumpsuit Apparatus pulled out from memory didn't they? Not that they interest me, but I thought they didn't end up going.

In flames, Lamb of God, Bloodhound Gang and Billy Talent were the only bands that I was interested in last year..

RJA played this year, you're thinking of Soundwave 08 where they pulled out last minute (as did a number of bands).

Nine Inch Nails and Alice In Chains were the highlight of 09.

Bloodhound were entertaining but they're as talented as any comedy band really.

Dillinger were fairly awesome.

Missed In Flames and Lamb of God, they weren't my thing at the time.

I found Billy Talent to be dissapointing. Solid but...eh.

That's what you are missing. Not everyone would pay $150 or whatever it is to see those bands, and I am definitely one of them. The line-up to me is average. Too much emo stuff, it will be scene kid city as it always is I suppose.

Whats this??

Some people don't like the apparently infallible soundwave festival due to their taste in music??

I thought it was only BDO who suffered from this?!?!?!

Must actually be because all festivals cater to different tastes, and those who dont share the tastes of a particular festival should just stick to the ones they do instead of whinging about it. I, for example, to whinge about the lack of punk rock at Park Life.

Soundwave is mediocre as hell, crappy metal and emo. Only Faith No More and Reel Big Fish have any real interest.

Sounds of Spring was by far the best festival lineup of the summer

as its meant to be!!! its the hardcore/emo festival. hatebreed was there one year and then a whole bunch of metal bands the next and now metal fans are like "whats with the emo bands". its not a metal festival!!!

You want to go to a show full of scene kids? It's not a hardcore festival at all. Maybe year one and somewhat year two but this year? AFI, HIM, Taking Back Sunday, My Chemical Romance, Paramore, Dance Gavin Dance, Four Year Strong, Placebo, Shinedown... yuck.

Outside of It Dies Today, Anti-Flag, Devil Wears Prada, Emarosa, Comeback Kid and Enter Shikari I have no interest in it at all. And I definitely don't like any of them enough to pay $100+ to see them.

Compare that to last year with In Flames, Every Time I Die, Unearth, 36 Crazyfists, Evergreen Terrace, Alesana, Underoath, All That Remains, Horse the band, Amity Affliction, House vs Hurricane... then the year before it they had Killswitch, Thursday, As I Lay Dying, From Autumn To Ashes, Shadows Fall, Haste The Day, Still Remains, Bleeding Through, Carpathian, Amity Affliction, Break Even, Anime Fire... whether you like the line-up this year or not there is definitely a shift in the sort of bands they are bringing over. There's no way it's a hardcore festival this year though regardless.

Everyone has their own tastes but I have no idea how you can say it's not a metal festival. There's more metal bands this year than ever. If they are going to start bringing over less hardcore bands I'd much rather they get metal bands over garbage like Paramore and My Chemical Romance.

Faith No More is excellent. Hence why I am flying all the way to Sydney to see the sideshow. ;-)

at least there the emo and scene kids (hopefully) will be staying away from the sideshow (school the next morning and all........TIC)

The rest of the line up (for me) is utterly $hite. Anthrax I rate, but other than that, meh. Trivium (rubbish) HIM (i have a few albums but I not killing everyone to see live) AFI (meh) Paramore (meh) and the list goes on.

This years for me the best line up. All That Remains, Unearth, 36 Crazyfists, Lacuna Coil, In Flames, Devil Driver, Alice In Chains, Lamb Of God, now that is a line up worth seeing!!!!! (pity about the LOG and AIC clash though)

Some band named Glassjaw was the 8th mystery band.
all that wait for pretty much nothing.

I'm still looking forward to SW2010 though and will be looking forward to seeing the lineup for SW2011 as well no doubt.
To see Faith no more and Anthrax will be a dream come true. Plus hopefully check out other bands such as Isis and Meshuggah.

Sure theres a lot of sh*t there. but there is also awesome music. MCR sucks dick, but there will be 3 other stages u can choose from at that same time. I reckon this is a great year.
