The Rhino Cup is the trophy for their main competition, which is made up of two conferences, the Limpopo / Mpumalanga Conference and Gateung Conference.

In the Limpopo / Mpumalanga Conference, the following teams took place in 2019:
  • Loskop Leopards
  • Loskop Ratels
  • Witbank Tigers
  • Ermelo Tomahawks
  • Middelburg Rabbitohs
  • Bethal Broncos
In the Gateung Conference, the following eight teams are taking part:
  • University of Pretoria Tuks Red
  • University of Pretoria Tuks Blue
  • Pretoria Bulls White
  • Pretoria Bulls Blue
  • Silverton Silverbacks
  • Brit Bulldogs
  • Tuine Grizzlies
  • Brakpan Bears
The Witbank Tigers finished top of the Limpopo / Mpumalanga Conference after they defeated the Ermelo Tomahawks 62 - 10 in the regional final.

In the Gateung Conference, the Semi Finals start on Feb 8. In the 'Platinum Cup' Finals:
  • Brakpan Bears (2nd) v Pretoria Bulls White (3rd)
  • University of Pretoria Tuks Red (1st) v University of Pretoria Tuks Blue (2nd)
In the 'Premium Cup' Finals:
  • Tuine Grizzlies (6th) v Silverton Silverbacks (7th)
  • Brit Bulldogs (5th) v Pretoria Bulls Blue (8th)
The Platinum and Premium Cup Finals will take place on Feb 23, whilst the winner of the Platinum Cup will then face the Witbank Tigers on Feb 23.

Now as a shift from previous years, the winner of the match will play EC/WC for the Rhino Cup on Feb 29... I'm not sure what that means, WC might be West Coast, as there is a league competition around Cape Town, however they previously have not played for the Rhino Cup.

The regional competition or the Jan Prinsloo Cup, has six teams this year:
  • Northern Bulls
  • Northern Bulls Invitational
  • Mpumalanga Panthers
  • Eastern Eagles
  • North West Warthogs
  • Limpopo Bisons
Northern Bulls are the defending Champions, defeating the Mpumalanga Panthers in the Final last year (who had held the trophy the 3 years before).

Semi Finals for this competition take place this weekend with the Eastern Eagles (2nd) hosting the Mpumalanga Panthers (3rd), whilst the Northern Bulls (1st) will play the Northern Bulls Invitational (4th).

Final is on Feb 1.

So just an update in South Africa.

The Northern Bulls retained the Jan Prinsloo Cup, defeating the Eastern Eagles 42 - 20, around a fortnight ago, whilst in the Club Competition, the University of Pretoria Tuks Red will face the Brakpan Bears in Saturday's Gauteng Cup Final.

Tuks Red are the current defending Champions, however when the Bears and Tuks Red last met in a Final (2017/18), the Bears won 24 - 14.

The winner will face the Witbank Tigers next week.
