Souths should find a new home ground

The NSW Government have been very clear, they aren't funding any new Stadiums beyond what has already been announced.

No they haven't. In fact the Stadia Stategy Implementation Report includes the provision of a new far west or south west Stadium in 15 years based on demand.

But yeah, as for inner city. Won't happen.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. A 25-30k all seater at Sydenham for Souths, Canterbury and 1/2 Dragons would be amazing.

I always said when the Olympics were being done that 2 things needed to happen which didn't. The first was the site needed to be on a through rail line not a diversion from somewhere else.
That way the area would have been far more attractive and easier to access

The second is that we should have built a second smaller rectangle stadium for Rugby League/ football regular season games. Capacity 35,000

The main stadium should be reserved for big games, internationals etc.

Such a great opportunity missed

Sydenham is only 10 min along the eastern distributor from Moore Park so it'll never happen.

Well, a metro line from Maroubra to Westmead has been approved and planning is underway. It's 10 years off but will be an absolute game changer for crowds and Sydney in general.

Therein lies the problem. Moore Park is atrocious for public transport but it effectively stagnates development potential in the east of the city. The SCG Trust just have too much power.

I wish they could knock it down.

Even if it meant giving the trust management rights to the alternative.

Obviously R20 can't say a negative thing about the club even if it meant a vast improvement for the club.

Anz is terrible, that Souths v Cronulla game I went to last year there was like a funeral and a terrible terrible experience and look for the game. Anz should host a nrl Sydney Sunday block buster with free entry to all nrl members and some nrl paid for entertainment during the day and that is it other than finals.
It's a shocker of a ground for club football, get everyone moved to the new western Sydney stadium when it opens before soccer lay claim to it.

Souths' home attendance average over the last half a decade is better than that of most NRL clubs. I doubt we will be moving to the SFS when we get a better deal from ANZ Stadium. The club has also said a number of times that there are more Rabbitohs members in western Sydney than in the South Sydney district, and we have lots of members all over Sydney, and Sydney Olympic Park is closer to the centre of the Sydney metro area, and it has a railway station right at the stadium, and lots of parking.

If they eventually build a 30,000 seat stadium in Liverpool, then maybe Souths would play their home games there (since there are a lot of Souths members in the south west of Sydney), but until that happens I think we'll be staying at ANZ Stadium. I'm sure the Bulldogs and Wests tigers would play home games at a new Liverpool Stadium too.

ANZ Stadium will be getting a retractable roof, so that will be good for crowds.

I think that's BS.
If you want to sit under cover you always can. Australians in general think if they get wet their going to melt and walking from the car to the stadium isn't going to have a roof on it.

The SFS is a great stadium - it is within walking distance of Central station. It is brilliantly located
Agreed you shouldn't drive - but why anyone drives in town in Sydney is beyond me. Public transport is the way to go

The light rail will go straight past it, so even people who can't walk 1 kilometre or work out how to board a bus from Central will be able to get there from town
