Souths v Easts will be the greatest grand final in history

Also. Greatest Grand Final really comes down to the quality of the match and the closeness of it. Souths, Sharks, Roosters Grand Finals were all memorable for their fans but neutrals will only remember the Cowboys Grand Final in the decades to come

I reckon AFL officials quietly pray that Easts/Souffs never meet in a GF such is the marketing opportunity.

Mind you, the NRL will bugger that up anyway so scrap the first para

I think it would be interesting for neutrals

But so much potential for true agony for the set of supporters who lose
That is true but that is why it would be epic. Like a poker player going all in. Beating them in a grand final would be sweeter than beating any other team. Losing to them would be more painful.

The anticipation and anxiety during the weeks build up would be awesome.

I think you greatly overestimate how much anyone outside of these two supporter bases cares
I know you won't admit it out of stubborness. But come on. A North Queensland v Cronulla (no offence to those two teams) GF does not create even close to the hype and anticipation that a Souths v Easts GF would

I thought 2016 was better than 2015 tbh. 2015 was an hour or so of Brisbane shutting up shop, followed by a great finish. Also rate 2013 higher, that was a great game too, and the Storm's defensive masterclass on Barba and co in 2012 was impressive

2009 Prelim Semi Parramatta V Canterbury Crowd: 74,549

2010 Prelim Semi St George Illawarra V Wests Tigers Crowd: 71,927

2014 Prelim Semi Souths V Easts Crowd: 52,592

Same game, same venue all within the space of 5 years. The ‘biggest rivarly’ Got 20,000 less then 4 other Sydney clubs got. No one cares about your so called rivalry, not even the clubs own fans apparently

Pretty much. I went to school on the very border of the territory and there was nothing but love between the two.

Dragons v Sharks and Norths v Manly.

Actual visceral hatred.

Having lived in both St George and The Shire this is true. Clubs and fans genuinely hate each other and the area that they represent
