Souths will have to move to the Central coast!

With Redfern NRL plans now dead and burried as locals will now get use of a multipurpose park, field for all sports, including Souths junior matches as well as other uses, what are the poor rabbits going to do?

Teltsra ain't the answer1
SFS is close enough and should be the first choice, but the Waratahs, Roosters are their main tennants for he next 10 years-the Trust have gauranteed both new administration offices, gym, pool & football club facilties under the current Grandstand- they will get terrific facilities centralised to their home ground.

This leaves Souths not wanted and needed- i think there is only one good future option, moving HQ to Gosford would give them a region for themselves, in terms of more juniors, modern tranining/ playing ground, and most vitally- they have a young/family demographic supporter base to tap into!

They have only kept old diehard support and they aren't growing their support as much as they should as results being poor over 17 years in a row and other clubs visionary mergers and part-relocations!

Wake up as another poor season might be your death !

Maybe the Bears will get back after all!

My opinion is shared by many league fans, and as i love Souths history, they have to get modern with all their plans!

Agreed-keep there logo, colours, jersey and name if they want as long as they include central coast on the logo/jersey like St George do with Illawarra.

Imagine how fresh and strong they can be!

What happens when the people of the Central Coast treat us like they did the Northern Eagles?

You really think your current juniors will lose their identity after 100 years and begin favouring Roosters- as long as you service the area in terms of money and time, then any border changes attempted by Roosters won't change anything!

Also, it will give Souths 2 massive junior pools- like Saints have now!

They would also get $8 mil upfront-Orford and other stars would consider coming-SERIOUSLY in the future!

I can tell you now that Souths will not be playing up at Gosford. To be honest I am sick of hearing about this. I like many other fans don't care about moving to the Central Coast. Is Redfern dead and burried? From my understanding we might be playing games out of there as early as 2007.

From what I have been told Souths are looking at playing 4 games a year out of Redfern Oval. It will be against the likes of the Storm and NZ Warriors. Games that we won't draw big crowds.

I can tell you now that I wouldn't want Orford as he has shown his true colours in his contract negotiations. I prefer players to be playing for our club because they want to be there. Look at what has happened at the Tigers this year.

The approval for alternate uses for Redfern oval have been confirmed- the only way Redfern would be used for League is junior matches as the crowd capacity will be around 6-8k.
No NRL THERE FROM NOW ON!

ignorance is bliss huh ??

we will not re-locate to the Central Coast .. and over the next few years i do believe that we will be playing atleast 3 or 4 games a year at Redfern Oval .. its ridiculous that this topic keeps getting brought up .. we dont need big names like Matt Orford if we stick to developing the juniors that we have .. it wont happen overnight but u get the drift .. we are SOUTH SYDNEY RABBITOHS not Central Coast Rabbitohs so get the f*** over any idea to move us to the CC cause it aint gonna happen ..

If Souths want to live- ignoring competing at a high enough level- then a permanent home at Gosford is their only chance-

Souths will die again if they rely on only their history which is great on one hand but if they have to want to play with the Big-Boys, they have to have at last some vision-the NRL know it and will force them eventually up to Gosford-that is fact-Souths can resist as long as they like, but when your own region gets taken over by roosters, waratahs and swans, then i think Souths is unfortunately surplus to requirements to play any games in that region aside from semis-if they ever get close enough to making one.

Also dont forget Redfern is approved only for junior matches-it wont meet NRL standards by a long way! This is now the simple fact unless Piggons appeals the council again one final time- the locals are happy to have a multi-purpose park there, so there isn't real support for Piggons to do much now.
Clover Moore has stated as of last week that all plans are in place to proceed as originally voted for, so NRL WILL NEVER RETURN TO THAT OVAL!

I love Souths history as much as many, but stubborness this time will be the deathnel as Telstra is Dogs, Tigers, Parra territory- that will only be their short-term home.

The idea that Souths would play out of an oval that would house 3,000 less people then the current NRL average attendance was ridiculous in the first place.

souths will eventually move to gosford it is not a question of if it is a question of when. die hards like piggins will move on and others with the required sense will takeover and do the best thing for souths - relocate them.

Souths need also to rejuvenate a new fan base- the entire central coast is better than the over-loaded redfern/sydney/w.sydney market-which have 3 big codes and several NRL teams within one market area.

Souths get a region to themselves for juniors as well as support-you cannot get a better opportunity for setting up for the future!

If i were a News/Nrl Director, i would give them an a simple/strong message, move to the coast or you will receive a reduced grant!

This is harsh, but they are a club lost in their distant-past history, meaning they have not grown their supporter base over the last 15 years, have not made the semis since the 70's aside from the i year in the late 80's.

Secondly, the sporting market in the inner city of Sydney has changed to an extent that the Swans and Waratahs along with the Roosters fans dominate the demographics of hat market-and growing financially, while Souths are not even welcome by the local SCG Trust.

They have lost the general fan base "feel sorry for Souths" factor mainly due to their stubborness and real lack of vision at the top admin-unfortunate but true.

Finally, other clubs like the Tigers and Cowboys have become many fans second teams.
