Souths will have to move to the Central coast!

I am also sick of hearing why Souths "must" move to the Central Coast. Can the NRL get any more stupid? The Bears are literally jumping up and down waving their arms about to re-establish themselves as an NRL team at Gosford, and the NRL decides it's a better idea to give ex-pat-ville up here (where I live) another team. If any NRL team should move to Gosford, it should be the Sharks. But Souths have too big a junior base, too much history and too much support to just be carted off like that. Their corporate support comes from Sydney as well, so why move? I also wouldn't be surprised if the Titans are dead or struggling to survive 10 years from now.

give some reasons y u think the sharks should relocate

I think the Sharks should relocate because:

1) They have a history of struggling financially. Had it not been for SuperLeague, Cronulla would most likely be gone by now. They almost hit the wall at the same time Newtown did. Relocating to the Central Coast would help give them a huge grant and the NRL would be more than willing to support them financially.

2) South Sydney have been in the competition since the first year it started in 1908. Cronulla don't have a long history or a successful history like other Sydney clubs. In 38 years (and counting) the Sharks have only made two grand Finals in a full competition, and the last of those was in 1978.

3) The Sutherland Shire is a smaller area of Sydney. With the Shire now sandwiched by St George-Illawarra, there is little or no room for growth in the Shire. However, on the Central Coast the Sharks could have plenty of growth.

4) The Central Coast Sharks- it's not a bad name, is it?

I didn't say Cronulla hit the wall, I said they nearly did. I also said 'Grand Finals in a full comp'- Superleague season '97 was definately not a full comp, so I didn't count that one.

Bye bye Redfern,

Hello Gosford-

NRL execs will ensure they will rightly move/re-locate after years of dismal failures, non-growth and growing competition!

Souths diehards will have to accept that a new home region is ESSENTIAL!

This has been in the pipeline for a long time-now the manangement will see this as their only long-term option!

Fact and About-Time!

souths and norths merge and move to central coast would be terrific for the game and the NRL should get on with it and make this decision.

Piggins and all the oldies at souths have had their time and in reality it's 35 years since they last won a competition - They need a new direction and new people running the club or they will be history a second time

wake up souths fans

Well i used like Souths 12-15 years ago- i now see them as the only weak team in the comp-this has been so for over 10 years now and things aren't going to get better if Redfern remains the major home base!

They have had that many chances now and haven't shown anything worthy of staying in the NRL.

Sad but true over a long time- and still they allow Piggins and his stubborn management ideas to stiffle what life they have left-if any.

Smart people move and adjust with time and market forces-Souths are a great example of how to stay stubborn, using history as their only reason for existance and ignore totally new opportunities to go to a growing, eager area like Gosford-they prefer to struggle to survive in Redfern-now mostly a poshy/ different demographic outgrowing their league history.

The only other team that embarrasses the NRL is perhaps Melbourne, but they are in an ideal position now to be among the best with a new stadia confirmed, terrific corporate strength and a one state/one team scenario-as soon as they see a bit more NRL etc on tv, as NZ did, they will become a credible power.

As far as the whole situation with souths goes, and this is the impression of an outsider looking in. All the Georgie followers wont be happy 'til Souths are back playing at Redfern. But that aint gonna happen cuz it's not up to NRL standards and rumour has it the Government wanna flog the land off.

Wouldn't surprise me. They won't be happy till every open park space has been sold and a block of flats is plonked on them.

if the YES vote gets up (please god) then all this talk of HAVING to move to the central coast is gone, all the rumour and innuendo.

However, if piggins and his dickhead mates on the NO bandwagon get up then the CC is exactly where we will end up.

Putting it bluntly, South Sydney will not have to move to the central coast to be viable. We have paid our way, albeit struggling over the last few years (ok decades :)), but if the YES vote gets up - watch out NRL

I would like too see Souths back at Redfern, but don't believe it will happen.

There are a lot of strong junior leagues club on the central coast as well.

If they move their what will they be called though. The far north Sydney rabbitohs or the 50 k's north of South sydney Rabbitohs.....( Joking guys )...

Souths at Redfern will only happen if piggins and pals get their paws on the club.

The future of the club is to TRAIN at Redfern at the $19m facility the governemnt is committed to building. Not bloody playing there

What junior base???!!! YOU DONT HAVE ONE. Souths Juniors stand alone, and Souths Rabbitohs do nothing for them!!! At least at Gosford you might be able to use some of the many local clubs up there. Redfern is dead. Thank God. But Souths and Juniors....LOLOLOL!!! Even my Roosters have 4 local junior teams. Dont worry about juniors you dont have. Worry about potentially getting some up at Gosford.

Sad to think that Souths rely on Souths Juniors for funding. It's like relying on my son to provide me with an allowance so I can live.

Do you really think that a vote of "YES" will change the club for the better? Recent history shows not. Souths have changed coaches, board members and CEO's. Yet no evidence suggests that the club is stable and moving forward.

When even the nephew of the influential member refuses to sign with the club let alone attract a player of note can only mean that there is no confidence in the club. Ashley Harrison could get out of the joint quick enough and you guys will suffer without him.

Thats pretty much how it is Seano. Wake up mate, you arent like the typical idiot Wabbit fans. Souths are worse off than Easts in terms of juniors and millions worse off financially. Probably why your club is dying again, and mine is well....not. Good luck this Sunday. Easts by 28.
