Sponsor drops Dogs

I see the fact that our shoulder sponsor committed for a further 2 seasons last week has been overlooked. We'll end up with someone on our front and back, no worries there.

Interestingly enough very few made anything of the fact that up until a day or two before this season commenced, Souths had NO home OR away sponsor...

Let's face it folks, if you had money to spend on sports sponsorship, would you invest in the Bulldogs?

Let's hope they don't get some sponsor with a big ugly logo like Brisbane's WOW Sight and Sound.

i take notice of who sponsors them and then avoid their products or whatever

Really?

I don't. I usually go for the best price/quality.

Seeing a name on a jersey will sometimes get me googling to read up and see what they are about. Whether the players in that team are knobs or not is irrelevant to me.

Yes, but the sponsors will also go for best quality, meaning the dogs are stuffed. Who wants to be associated with a team that is associated with *edit* cheating and thuggish supporters.

As you say, best price and quality all the way. Sonny Bill is no coincidence, it is the beginning of the dogs comeuppance.

lol You are not going to draw me into an argument with your trolling and name calling.

The bottom line is the Bulldogs will get a suitable sponsorship for next season and morons like you will continue talking crap.

What about the family planning association? They were the family club after all.

Talk about over-reading the situation by some of the fans on here. Lets look at the facts:

1: The Mitsubishi Electric deal was up, so they haven't pulled out mid-contract or anything like that.

2: With the global economic downturn, Mitsubishi was told they have had to cut close to $40 million worth of costs in Australia, to try and keep overall company profitability strong. Naturally items like sponsorship, especially big deals like they had with the Bulldogs are going to suffer with that. (Note: They aren't the only company who are being forced to adopt strategies like that, Toyota is another of note)

3. It's not like the Bulldogs haven't been aware of this, they have been out in the market for sponsors for almost 3 months now.

The SBW saga certainly hasn't helped the Bulldogs brand, but really, the Bulldogs have just been a victim of bad circumstances here.

i would highly doubt Toyota pulling the plug on sponsorships etc...they are one of the most successful and wealthy companies in australia and the world. The cars are the highest selling in aus and worldwide...not to mention the forklift side of things. Plus they own panasonic too...

 Yeah, the WOW Brisbane Broncos WOW for all your sight and sound needs WOW 13 28 38 P.S did you know we are sponsored by WOW? On their away jersey that red background looks hideous. It's a real eyesore the way some clubs have changed the background to their sponsor's logo on their home and away jerseys so that it always clashes. EPL teams can give the likes of Samsung, Carlsberg, AIG, Thomas Cook etc. plenty of exposure without whoring their jersey out to such a great extent- why can't we?

The WOW Broncos jersey look horrible.

They are one club who have had trouble finding a decent jersey since day dot. The advertising doesn't help.

I was always a fan of their first ever jersey though (Powers). Probably because Sir Walter wore it. Oh and Shane Duffy as well.

Big deal. 5 years is a good run. Dogs will get something bigger and better.

Aparently something is already in the pipeline. Contract law specialists.

Sad to see a blue chip sponsor leave the sport. fingers crossed the Dogs can attract another big name sponsor. I wonder if anyone has ever done a study on what sponsors do when they leave a club, ie do they stop sponsoring sport, put their money in another club or put there money in another code altogether?

They didn't sell a $2m contract. They sold a release from the contract. The Bulldogs keep the remaining $1.25 (approx.) plus get a $750K payout. That's about $2m the Bulldogs now have in their pockets. Effectively, they got SBW for nearly two years (minus games he spent on the sideline) for free and now have $2m to spend for future players.

It's hard to measure what financial impact SBW's departure will have on sponsorship. Mitsibishi Electric had been a major sponsor for 5 years. That's a long time for a major sponsor and it's not unexpected that they've decided not renew.

In reality, they sold the contract or the right to challenge it. And that was worth 2m...+ damages.
