Their wouldve been about 2700 horses that raced around Australia yesterday and one of them had an accident and was humanely euthanized. Shut the whole industry down and put about 30000 people nationwide out of work.

Income tax and gst will go through the roof with all the unemployment and the fact the government won't be getting at least 15c out of every dollar that invested.

In all for initiatives that improve horse welfare, safety, longevity and unnecessary waste but the social justice crew beating the drums about this one are woefully uneducated about how important the industry is to this country's economy.

The activists will be wandering in their fur coats eating a yearling steak sandwich making up statistics about horse racing and how cruel it is to animals.

Should all have been drowned at birth.
My cousin’s wife who always asks me for Cup tips posted on Facebook how barbaric horse racing was and it should be banned.

I’ve tipped her the Cup winner quite a few times over the years and even the trifecta a couple of times as well. I enjoyed pointing out her hypocrisy and saying you didn’t mind the cup so much when you won on it. My cousin is now in the shit for what I wrote lol. I told him to grow a pair.

Spot on mate, the horse racing industry is one of the biggest employers in the country. Typical nut Huggers. @El Diablo

As I wrote in another thread...

Life is harsh. Very f**king harsh.

And horses in the wild endure far greater horrors and often very slow deaths.

Race horses, on the whole, have it damn good.

My parents live in a semi rural suburb and just down the road are two horses on an empty housing block.

They do nothing all day and look miserable as f**k. Where are the tears for them?

At least race horses get to do what must come as second nature to them - run.

So some get hurt and die. It's sad but that's life. It happens to all creatures.

Barbaric that these poor animals are fed, watered, groomed, exercised, vetted, stabled and then are actively given homes for retirement... just disgraceful.

What these lefty activists don't understand is that people in the racing industry first and foremost love the animal... yes there is a lot of money in the industry but the animal is placed above everything else.

I watch a lot of racing and for a horse to have to be put down on the track is extremely rare. The only reason its getting so much attention is that by pure coincidence it seems to have happened in the cup a fair bit over the last few years.

It does seem to be happening a lot to the Euro horses, not just in the race but just lots of injuries in the lead up etc. maybe the theory our tracks are harder has some kind of weight to it? always thought it was BS but who knows.
