Gower actually referred to himself as a middle forward in one of those training pressers last week (or the week before).

A couple of appearances in the halves make me think he is still a utility. But maybe he was just playing out of position, like Pritchard?
I guess so but I would claim that has been out of nessesity similar to Ma'u being in the centres (which would be a lot more often then taka at 5-8). In saying that I wouldn't be surprised if taka was our #14 - utility bench option next year

Yeah I still think of Takairangi as a utility, even though he's been pretty exclusively a centre since coming to Parra. At the Roosters he was mostly an edge forward off the bench, at the Titans he only played centre in his first year (2013), with a bit of edge forward and half in 2014. At Parra he has worn jersey #4 in 30 out of 32 games, so maybe he's not a utility any more.

I have chosen to do nothing. Takairangi is a utility until he proves otherwise by not playing different positions all those years ago.

It may have something to do with the number of syllables in his name. FYI all the NRL Immortals and Eels Hall of Famers were not burdened with such a high number of syllables in their surnames. Fix that problem and he'd be able to focus on one position IMO.

So IDG has been re-signed for 2 years. Is anyone seriously happy that he looks like being our first choice hooker next year?

There was no mention of providing depth, as is usually the case for back up recruitment and retention, so I can only assume the plan is to play him in the 9 next year.

Well, if have faith that Pricthard will be "mentored" as alleged and develop into something special for 2018, then it will be ok... I'm yet to be sold on Pritchard, but different sets of coaching staff have seen something in him.

I guess Pritchard has just been getting a feel for the pace of the game when coming on this year, and maybe next year Arthur will start to have him come on and take sole responsibility for dummy half for increasing minutes, until he becomes our starter in 2018 (with IDG as his back-up that season)?

At least IDG would have come cheap, leaving more money for a potential signing at half or fullback (hopefully to be announced after the finals)?

Its not good enough IMO, but once again I'll only be labeled a whinger and a negative merkin.
