I keep forgetting Fogarty as well. He's as good as official.

You would have to think Fogarty would be Top 25, given that he would be on the equivalent of a second tier deal by just playing for a Qld Cup team (given the nature of that comp), where he is a chance of being dragged out of that comp by any one of four teams (Titans, Broncos, Cowboys or Storm) and if he has a second tier deal down here he plays in a weaker comp (NSW Cup) and is limited to making only one NRL team.

If I'm not mistaken Jake Granville made his debut with the Broncos by being contracted to a Qld Cup team and not part of the Broncos system.

Things work a bit differently up there.

For what it's worth the Burleigh Bears press release says that Fogarty has an NRL contract.

Burleigh Bears co-captain Jamal Fogarty will be moving on at the end of the season after picking up an NRL contract with the Parramatta Eels.

Second tier players are on NRL contracts - full time, and on a minimum of about $40k (source: Gould on Twitter). The only difference between top 25 and second tier players is which salary cap they fall under, plus top 25 players have a minimum salary of $82500.

As for ISC (QLD Cup) contracts being as attractive as second tier spots in Sydney, don't discount the money and opportunity to train full time with an NRL squad. I doubt Burleigh can afford to pay even its best players a full time salary, and even if they did, what's he going to do all day while his team mates are at their day jobs? That said, if Fogarty is as good as we're hoping then there would have been some demand for him. That's likely to push his price into the top 25 salaries at the gaining club (i.e. us).

The reasons he might be top 25 are more convincing than why Cameron King or Bureta Faraimo (for example) would be top 25 next year.

Not sure if either of those clubs can just take any player, I assume the player would need to accept a contract offer along with not being under contract with another NRL club. The same as NSW for the the non NRL contracted players. Clubs would also need to comply with the salary cap too.

And as Pou the big factor would also be getting to train full time would be massive.

He's only played a couple of games there, but I'm pretty sure he'll only play fullback from here on. Maybe I should change him to fullback.

Some merkin said the final year (2018) might be an option in his favour, though I can't see an unknown asking for (or receiving) that kind of clause.
