Which year did the Penrith Panthers form the relationship with St Marys?

Have St Marys always been known as the Cougars? Or did they change their name when they became involved with Penrith?

How many games each year are played at Western Weekender Stadium and how many are played at Penrith Stadium? Has it been the same for each year of the deal or has it changed part way through? Did St Marys start off by playing all their games at Penrith Stadium?

How many of the Premier League team are contracted to St Marys? Or are they all contracted to the Panthers?

I believe it was in the year 2002.

I'm pretty confident they became the Cougars when St.Marys bought out Penrith's Junior section - well at least I am under the impression that St.Marys is the dominant partner in this relationship. So new jerseys, colours were designed.

I think it's close to half/half. St.Marys (which i am thinking is the dominant partner), it may end up being a few more games being played at the WW Stadium. And again as far as I am aware the same deal has been the same for each year they've been together.

I will assume that all of Premier League players listed under their name are contracted to St.Marys Cougar who are a different entity to Penrith.

Hope that helps. Although I'm not sure if I am 100% correct. I have a feeling Rhino would be able to answer more confidently though.

So new jerseys, colours were designed. The merger was 50/50 and is only the Premier league team nowadays. It used to include the Flegg Side but St Marys pulled the pin on that one due to the Pokie Tax coming in. In the old Metro cup days St Marys were known as the Saints from memory.

The Agreement was signed in 2002 to cover seasons 2003-2005. In 2003 the JV had 2 teams - Premier League and Jim Beam Cup. Flegg was never part of the agreement and only ran for about 9 weeks in 2003 after which 5 or 6 players like Ben Rogers, Ben Pomeroy and Frank Pritchard moved into the JB team for the rest of the season. When Flegg reverted to a full season the JV was only for Premier League.

Each partner in the JV contributes 50% of the funding and gets equal board membership but the panthers always had total control over recruitment and selection.

Western Weekender got 8 games in 2003 but this has now fallen back to 6.

The Saints are green and white and at the time the Panthers were mainly black so the Cougars (young panther) wear a green and black jersey.
