DCE reportedly gone

“We are Queenslanders” “Queenslanders pick and stick” shown once again to be an absolute myth

I think what this shows is how important it is, generally, to get your key selections right for game 1. DCE was a gamble and it didn't pay off. Now QLD are chasing the series from a long way behind.

I don't really buy into the whole loyalty thing. Queensland had the luxury of being able to pick and stick for a few reasons- most noticeably, elite players and success. When you lose, you need to make changes to win.

Back in the day they did pick guys in ordinary club form etc… but less the case these days

Honestly, I think QLD are making more sense there. Loyalty is for winners.
Haven’t seen both Manly games, but DCE has found some form? Dearden’s kicking not a strength, nor Munster… not sure of balance, Ponga going to have to play a different role?

The thing is with them though, they’ve sat there for years saying “we would never do that” win or lose, and it’s exactly what they’ve done.

His short kicking game v Broncos was 10/10, but that’s probably the only above average game he has played since round 3. His option taking has been poor, and no better example than last week, 1 min before halftime hammering the Newcastle line, and he put a kick out over the sideline on the 3rd tackle

Even when they were winning, there are numerous examples like Fifita and Cobbo who haven’t had the ‘stick’ treatment during those campaigns

Not sure he was all that close last year to be honest. Was a passenger.
He may have only been playing 25mins a game, but those 25 at the start of the game, he was hitting everything that moved in front of him and stopping them dead

Also listen to interviews of the squad after the series, and leading into this year, and they all say what he brought to the squad environment as the leader was a huge part of the success

Both of those players do have some stink attached to their name though
Yep they do, but David Fifita was in great form prior to selection after a big game 3 the year before when he was left out

I have no problem with them making changes, just find the smugness, hypocrisy and backtracking from the likes of Tallis hilarious

Am sure if NSW win this series you’ll hear Tallis refer back to winning 8 in a row when he is on the back foot in a debate

Mail before Jake got concussed was that Loz was picking him for game 1. And if they lost that game, I've no doubt Jake would've come straight back in.

What he brings to a team is similar to what Fish brought to Penrith, and now us, Never see it on a stat sheet but his team mates swear by it.
