State of Origin 2025

We're a funny species aren't we, people talking with unequivocal confidence this week how NSW were going to win by 30+ and QLD had no show with their side, like we've been able to pick a thing all year in rugby league. I'm like 33% in my NRL picks, I think I had one round of 0-8.

Huge for Capewell to contribute, we couldn't work out what he was providing us but I think it's clear now. May lead the NRL in missed tackles but I now know that's a misleading stat, his effort this year has been world class and led our charge

Sounds like everyone was a mile off, but if you look at it when Klein wasn’t producing a massive run of penalties for QLD to get out of their own end and close to the line, and none the other way, it was 4 tries to 0 in the 2nd half and QLD looked to have the same issues as game 1

Capewell was great. Answered a few haters. This is his best season in the time that he's been with us.

Munster stepped up.

For me, the crucial moment was the Utoikamanu penalty. NSW just seemed to run out of time in the end. Had the Cleary try stood, the comeback could’ve started earlier. Instead, it turned into a 12-point swing, with Capewell going over.

Yea that was disappointing from Stefano. Made the decoy run and stopped in the line seemingly expecting play to keep swinging right, but then found himself in the way when Cleary cut back in.

Bit of a cardinal sin from the big man and I think he knew it. Seemed to apologise to Cleary after the score was rubbed out.

But man the officiating had such an impact. Not saying Klein was right or wrong, but the flow (or otherwise) of penalties essentially decided the game.

Klein brought back the spirit of the Grasshopper…

I’ll never understand why Api isn’t 9, but regardless NSW should towel them in the last game given the chance

Luai's on report for 'touching the eyes', it looked bad but we didn't see it again as, you know, it was an unsightly thing for the pinnacle of league.

The player wasn't injured, I don't think, so that will work in Luai's favour.

Most noticeably, seemed to referee one way in the first half and then another in the second. I was expecting a square up. I don't like them, but that's what I thought we'd get.

The square-up almost decided the series at the end. That Ponga knock-on, confirmed by the Bunker, was highly debatable. Even though I was riding the comeback I'm glad it wasn't decided on that.

I think the moment that best sums up Klein as a referee overall, not just talking last night, was the 2nd half bomb where he penalised NSW for a high tackle. Not only was the tackle only marginal at best for high contact, he completely ignored one of the most blatant tackles in mid air on Lomax you will see

That effort in the first half where Qld dropped the ball, Klein calls dropped ball then you see him running to get them back 10, only for the next shot to see him awarding a penalty to Qld for offside was extremely suspect. Offside is known straight away, not a few seconds after contact and a dropped ball. They said the call came from elsewhere but it is very sloppy

Not sure it was confirmed, as much as upheld.

That Ponga one, he is coming forward to the ball, so it is hard for it to go back. Could see it move forward off his hand into his head, given you can’t knock a ball on with your head, am guessing the head doesn’t nullify the forward direction the ball was travelling in ?

That's it. He knocked it on into himself and then it rebounded back. That's a knock on. The Fox commentators were full o shit.

I would have thought Api was the best 9 in NSW, and I imagined it was due to the playing up in Origin camp in 2021 that he isn't there, but he's played since then. Guess they want a guy like Robson with more defensive steel
