No argument there, I loved him for most of his time here.

It still used to make me laugh at the death stare he would throw at Sauce or DWZ when he had to take a tackle on a kick return when the kick chase wasn't staggered, it looked like one of them had just pissed in his coco pops.
Remember when he started running it back like Karmichael Hunt at one point? Hahaha

I just hope Nath's mental health is ok. He is really beating himself over Origin. Let's hope it doesn't affect his confidence for the rest of the season.

Everyone needs to ease up on him. Some of the stuff on social media has been brutal.

The gutless Executives at NSWRL should be making some attempt to back him and admit they made a massive error in their choice of Coach.
NC should not have to carry the loss, he had a lot of friends out there .

Time to stop holding back and just ask Ivan to coach nsw.
Ivan is smart enough to stay away from that shitshow. He would probably have to give up coaching Penrith and why would he sign on to a 3 game wank and distraction that treats his son like a punching bag.
Just read Zero Tackle SOO review, bloke who wrote sounds like the love child of Buzz Rothfield and Derryn Hinch, seems nobody from Penrith good enough to play Origin.

Nathan is the halfback hes ultimately responsible. Dce just got replaced and a stack of media about him.

Ivan wouldn't have to quit penrith its 3 games a year. Really you just need a more modern coach who has real experience

When did RL stop being a team sport?? Qld were offside most of the night which is why the defenders were able to crowd the halves. Watch Qld and you will notice that it was usually the 3rd or 4th reciever that took clearing kicks, whereas Nsw kicks were usually by the 1st or 2nd reciever. Our forwards were also lacking dominance. With Daley as the coach, there was no adjustments made to counter these tactics, I don't that Daley could even speel the word taktix.

It is the halfback's job to recognise the rushing defence and adapt. Nathan admitted he screwed that up.

I think that the criticism that Nathan is a 'system' halfback is valid.

He isn't the type of halfback who 'reads the game' and sets up plays 3 tackles beforehand like an Andrew Johns.

He isn't a 'natural' footballer like a Thurston who can play 'eyes up' footy, spot a half gap and throw a beautiful cut out pass on the chest for a linebreak.

He is an effort footballer who plays low risk football and stays calm doing it, is a great defender and is an excellent kicker which is arguably his best trait. Otherwise, there is nothing exceptional about him. He is a good runner without being great. A good passer without being great. A good decision maker without being great.

He is very much a manufactured product which makes sense when he is a Coach's son who isn't exactly a natural athlete.

The exceptional part is the results he has produced. 4 straight grand finals wins and we are in the hunt for a 5th.

I've never had an issue criticising him as a player but I can't argue with results.

Not sure why to feel the need to compare or question Nathan Cleary. You have often done the same with Dylan Edwards.

Wednesday night would have been devastating for Nathan personally but NSW were beaten across the 17 and it was basically impossible for him to impose himself in a side which was poor across the board.

he showed great character today, just to play and bounce back with a strong performance.

for all the shit Nathan cops - no one can take away that he's a 4 time consecutive GF winner with 2 Clives - so he's done it on the big stage multiple times.

granted he cant get it done during an origin decider

id bet if you asked all those Queenslander boys apart of the 8 in a row etc - would they rather keep that 8 origin series in a row or take 4 NRL comps in a row

Nathan sleeps like a baby at night :p
