Dear God, do not let them select David Taylor.

We've seen far too many times in the past that selecting forwards whilst they are young screws them over. It's a rare few who manage to go on after selection as they were before. It took years for Brad Meyers, Corey Parker, Dane Carlaw, and the rest to get back into their best form. Some, like Carl Webb, were all-conquering for a short period and after that have never reached such heights again.

You can select young backs; that generally works. But forwards reach their prime in their mid-to-late twenties. David Taylor has struggled enough in the last two seasons to get any kind of consistency in his game. This season so far he has been impressive, but selecting him for Origin will stuff him for good.

We really need to look at going for a different sort of backline this time around. Picking our backline based around solid defenders just doesn't work when QLD can score from anywhere through anyone. We need the same sort of ability in our backline. Jamal Idris could be a contender by Origin time. His size would definitely help us out.

Nathan Hindmarsh is a must for the team IMO. He is the best option we have for captain. He should be on the field for the entire 80 minutes also. We also have to find a way to fire up Willie Mason. If we can get him playing at 100% then we should be able to dominate the QLD pack through our bench.

Craig Wing has been in solid form for the Souths and has done a great job for NSW in the past.
