I believe part of Nigel's role was to assist the islander boys settle in, but you can't be there 24/7.

RIP Alex, condolences to your family and friends.

I agree, my point was more to try and highlight that the NRL is doing something for those who were unaware.

That article by Steve was excellent.

Saturday night will be emotional at parra stadium for cowboys players and fans, I am lucky enough to be down in Sydney for a course over the weekend so it will be hard to hold back the tears when the boys run out.

great point MMM - NRL needs to recruit ex players and professionals with revelant cultural experience to guide these young fellas. Polynesian and Aboriginal players are a massive part of the game and the NRL needs to spend the money to support them and their clubs to reduce further tragedies.

exactly - not bagging Vagana but more supporting him and his crusade.

Off course there are massive cultural different between those different cultures.
However they are some common.

At the very least they should have some contacts in the major cities.

I.e - have group of NRL endorsed support contacts in Sydney, Auckland, Qld and Melbourne.

Some mentors, 'aunties', counsellors of different natures which the players are conformatable

Im not by any means saying its the NRL fault, however he they dont attempt to improve services and cater it to the needs of the current player base..then it will be negligent.

The article on the young Tigers player was heartbreaking. Suicide is a massive issue - about 4 times the road toll - yet it's seen as a taboo topic, hence the euphamism "no suspicious circumstances" used by police and in the media.

RIP to young Alex and Mosese.
