I love money ball references. Lewis is very good at simplifying concepts and then selectively diefying those involved.
Broken down the main guy was desperate so he used another guy who was smart who used another guy's premise to marginally outperform for a couple of years.
Then the main guy turned down an offer to do it at club with more money, because he thought copying something in the public domain was unique, who just used a different guy who employed a smart guy and then boom championship to a top spending team.
It's odd that moneyball perseveres as this goal when it never worked. The advantage was so easily copied it could never work
