It won’t surprise to see AD back in the centre’s, while we see how & where Hastings is going to fit?
That makes the most sense. Doueihi's not a 5/8, but he is tall, has good chat and runs well. That makes him a good kick target and it should make the edge he defends on a little less permeable as well as allowing Hastings to play in the halves. Then we can run both our hookers in the top grade as well.

Yeah, him on one side and Ken on the other, will be formidable near the try line?

I hope Hastings proves to be the real deal?

You must drink expensive beer? 🤣

But do agree, he should and would think he will be upgraded money wise, along with a few others?
Madge said today he’d like to keep him. Joe is on $500 and can be inconsistent. Steff just keeps powering on and improving.

Press are talking another 3 years for Madge. An interesting proposition. He jags a few games and then there’s all this finals talk rubbish…..

Doueihi is not a 5/8.
I like the idea of trying him as a ball playing lock with roving commission. However…he has a SHITLOAD of work to do to raise his defensive technique and effectiveness to the required standard.
Have to disagree here. Douehi is a 5/8 every day of the week, his strength is in his attack a couple wide, he’d be wasted at lock. His biggest problem is trying too hard, he’s a real passionate kid, I got a real footy crush on him atm, he tries so hard to get the team going and as a result holds the ball a bit too long, you’d say in old parlance he’s a hog, but I think it’s more he’s an out and out team player. You can see a real skilful footballer in him just has to be more discerning with his ball playing choices. Has a great boot on him which would be wasted outside the halves. If he were to get a run at Melbourne the kid would become an absolute star. Let’s hope he becomes a star with the Tigers.

With respect to other positions I could see a real benefit if one of our hookers could kick out of dummy half. We just don’t see it, it’s such a valuable skill. It something that one of the Jakes needs to learn before 2022, whoever adds that string will be the regular no.9

Luciano is not a lock and never will be, he needs to improve his defence, but he is such a threat on the edge in attack that he has to stay there. If you take out the occasional brain fart offload and missed tackle you’ve got a gun edge forward there.

I’ve been looking at our edges recently and just think the shit defence is a communication thing, as individuals they don’t miss that many tackles, but they don’t work as a unit, there always one, either not getting back, running out of the line at the wrong time, driving in off the wing too early, moving backwards instead of forward and lagging inside on the slide. They’ve got to look at what’s coming at them and have a tendency to work toward the outside.

Have at look at the Fox article and the talk of the plan today.

Doogie is not only a 5/8 but i say in a few years, he is origin bound in that position.

We all saw the evidence of his spell in the backs and I thought wtf is a team Ferrari doing in a vw beetle race?

When Madge is looking through his book of failures, just after his chapters on the refusal to drop Brooks early, trusting Mbye too much he’s going to find shuffling Doogie along and forgetting about him as one of his worst calls in his coaching career.

I hope so.
He’s been playing great footy and he’s been consistent.

He’s got plenty of the mongrel dog in him which I like.

Brooksy hasn’t had any pressure on him for quite some time and Hastings doesn’t tolerate playing second fiddle. That’s going to help both of them if Brooksy survives. He has been fighting back recently, much to his credit.

Hastings should go some way in fixing the halves issue and he can play anywhere along the line.

Madge says we are bringing Marquee into the side, but the foundation of the side must be there first, only then will we splurge.
