Apparently our guys are suffering because they are training very hard.
Reportedly Kearney won't cop any crap from the players anymore. If they want to be lazy, they may as well get out.

I love this guy :D

After DA's first off season the players said they'd been made to work harder in the off season then they ever had before...

But...but...but Kearney & Mortimer are our saviours???

I think we are in for a L O N G year (metaphorically, of course) - unless there are serious changes in our halves & how they are used. Kearney may well turn out to be a very good coach but some of you really have a bad case of man-love for an untested NRL coach - and before a ball has even been kicked.

I will save my judgement for after the bloke has actually coached an NRL side for a while...

I think Parramatta fans should be confident. Stephen Kearney has brought much-needed discipline to the club and you can already see the players responding.

With the likely addition of Craig Wing to the halves, I think we'll see an exciting brand of football.

2011 is the year of the Eels. I haven't been this confident in years.

He's taller and has a bigger head than Ando, the players will work their asses properly.

Lingard, I feel this is not about my post, its about you having an issue with me. It seems you really have it out for me. Doesn't matter what I write you will find something wrong because I wrote it. If I really felt this squad could not make the GF I would say so. Last years squad had all the right ingredients and circumstances to win last years GF, but that was not to be and I have raised my concerns about the many why why why why why's.

The Dragons on paper did not look like a GF squad but they won it this year off the back of one of the greatest coaches of all time who worked out the strengths of each player and used a game plan designed to make sure all players best strengths were used in the best possible way. With great fitness and built in confidence and using an average 7, 6 & 9 (not world class), they easily won the 2010 GF. Look at the culture from top to bottom and we can see why the Dragons won. Look at the Eels culture from top to bottom and we can see why the Eels terribly fell apart, particularly when the pressure was applied in the last 8 weeks or so of the season. Did DA create this crap culture?????? Was he fully supported to get rid of it??????? Just my opinion, remember its just my opinion here..... Why were plans in place to get rid of him early this season??? I was also told about the whispers coming from within the club saying those with the power had it out for him as early as the 5th round or so of the 2009 season. Again, this is just my opinion Lingard!!!!

Go and get f**ked! No, just kidding. I`ve got no issue with you - except when you start going on and on about conspiracy theories when you have NO evidence. If you had some evidence that`s okay, but you assassinate people`s characters without a shred of evidence. Calling Osborne evil and the 'board' (who are just people you have never met) a bunch of money-grubbing, masonic demons who run some sort of terrible cartel. I don`t care about your silly conspiracy ideas at every turn, but I think it`s a bit rich to denigrate someone`s character when you`ve never even met them AND you have no evidence. That`s what I object to. But when you don`t do this sort of thing, your posts are insightful, intelligent and I respect your knowledge of football, which, if you`d read some of my posts, you would already know. And I`ve also stuck up for you on this forum at times. So, I don`t have an issue with you.
In regard`s to my earlier post; I get sick of people EVERY SINGLE YEAR saying we have a great squad and we should be pushing for a top four spot or we should win the premiership. For f**k sake! If you compare our 2011 squad to Souths or Gold Coast or Manly or Easts or Saints or the Tigers ..... or ....... Maybe, just maybe we have a better squad than Cronulla or the Cowboys. Canberra are better than us on paper. So are Brisbane. Melbourne probably still are. And we have a rookie coach. Potentially the best rookie coach going around, but still a rookie. Mate, on paper, we`ll be going real well to come tenth or eleventh. Our squad is mediocre. Why can`t we for once just settle for that, without talking up our finals chances and then being disappointed. I for one will be happy if Parra are fairly competitive in most of their matches and develop into a team with at least some tactics and some structure or strategy. Anything more than that will just be a bonus.
And by the way, why did you put four exclamation marks after ny name? You got an issue with me or something?

When Hayne is on fire, our squad goes from being mediocre to superman.
I hope Kearney can replicate what he did with Marshall to Hayne.
Hayne + more ball = good.

The Parramatta Eels should never aspire, or be content with a 9th or 10th-placed finish, lest we become one of the mediocre clubs like Cronulla (and were one ourselves from 1989-1996). Top 8 should be most teams aim, and if they finish outside the top 8, they should be very disappointed.

Thinking of us probable top 4 canditates/ Grand Final winners is wishful thinking given the insipid 2010, though top 6 is not out of reach - dare to dream, think positively, etc.

We lost to the Sharks twice this year...What an embarrassment.
Better not happen in 2011, otherwise the knives are out.

Agree to a point. But you can't have a whinge and a sook every time you miss the top 8, because 16 into 8 just doesn't work. We should be proud of the fact that we make the finals more often than not these days. But with such an even comp, you cannot make the finals every year.

That's true, but after such a long premiership drought and being close on 2 occasions since then, the pressure starts to build.

Hayne + more ball = good

Hayne + more ball + time and space to work in = better

Hayne + more ball + time and space to work in + people BACKING HIM UP = try time

From what I've seen from people who know more than me, the attitude at training is changing for the better; a lot of our players are getting minor injuries due to the intense training outfit they now have.
Everyone is really putting in now apparently, some key points have been highlighted;
-Defence, the wrestle and mobility in defence are big things they want to improve.
-The focus is working as a team, not as individuals or relying on an individual.
-Making the players tougher, more resilient and learning to actually contest the ball more.

It appears that the Eels of 2011 will favour the grinding teams down with structured kicking play and an extremely organised and tough-as-nails defence. Building pressure and maximising on opportunities as they present themselves, fixing our errors and improving our consistency seem to be things that they want to achieve.

From all reports, Kearney is killing them in training. I really like this coach! Brad Arthur is a huge help too!

Who cares what they're doing in training now. Your hear the same sort of reports in the off season EVERY year. I'd rather just and se how we perform early next year before speculating on whether our coach is doing a great job or not in the first couple of weeks of pre season training.

If Anderson pushed them hard, then what Kearney is doing is murder.
