Saw an early edition of the Sunday Tele

anyway there is an article that Sterlo tells Parra not to try and sign Lyon

Sterlo's main points

- Lyon dudded the club
- If you're homesick you don't go to England
- He supported Lyon at 1st knowing how Lyon might fell homesick but when it was known this was a lie Sterlo washed his hands of Lyon
- SAid that Parra would've kept Tonga if Lyon had said something eariler
- Said fans have the right to hate Lyon for what he did
- Said that Parra handled the situation very well and if anyone looks bad from this saga it's Lyon and only Lyon.

NRL has developed from a not so professional to a full blown professional game. IN this age of professionalism there is nothing like emotions becuase everything comes down to who wins the NRL. If Jamie Lyon can contribute to the winning the NRL I will go with Lyon. Bryan Smith has bad name in terms of loosing good players. I agree Lyon could have said the real reason why he left EELS - it could have been much better. But that does not mean I would like EELS to loose one of the best centre of the game.
In the end I fully support Lyon coming to EELS. If senior players of EELS object to his inclusion - they should look for some other team. Tomorrow if Clinton Schifoski wants to come to EELS - do we say no to him becuase he left our club?
At the end my point is there is no place of emotion in a age of professional sport.

Its not about emotion. Its about profesionalism (spl). You DO NOT sign a contract then walk. He cannot be trusted. He doesnt know Hagan. Whats to say he comes back doesnt like him either and jumps ship again. Our club as a professional unit SHOULD NOT put themselves in that position again.

well when the games stops being played by humans then we can expect emotion to go away - but until then there will always be emotion involved, just like everything else in life

its all been said before but ... shifcofske left when his contract finished and he could played his prefered position at parra any more - lyon ran away lying and crying one game into a new 3yr contract - don't compare apples with bowling balls

exactly - our club and coach have been very professional about an awkward situation - lyon was as far from it as u can get

Cirque: You say that if the senior players don't want Lyon they should be kicked out

So basicallu your willing to lose Hindy, CAylo, Grothe, McKinnon, Tahu, Riddell, T.Smith, Morrison, Widders and MArsh just to get Lyon??

Will Lyon play 2nd row, prop, centre. 5/8, half and also come off the bench??

(I realise it is unlikey that all those players will leave and not all were here when Lyon walked out but the point is still valid).

You also talk about professionalism where was Lyon's in 2004??

Most companies have policies in place to give them X amount of notice before leaving, I doubt 10 minutes is the time at any company in the world.

if he wants to come back it'll be on our terms and nothing else and I'd like to add that if we sacrifice a current contracted player for him, I'd be totally pissed.

Really??
How do you know??
He made ONE decison, and you say he should be plastered with that for the rest of his life??
If that's the case, don't ever, ever trust John Howard again, because he said there would NEVER be a GST.
And if you have never made a mistake or a wrong decision, don't expect anyone to ever give you a chance again.

FFS, give the guy at least half a chance.

I might have been willing to if he didn't wear that hat............

it wasn't one decision - he was obviously a snide little prick about it.

If he ends up wearing THAT hat, I might agree with you. But he hasn't yet, so shouldn't be judged.

I'll assume you have not sinned? You are casting many stones.

thats it - it wasn't one decision - it was a long drawn out saga that could have been put to rest at any point had he felt he'd erred

Parra already gave him a chance

When he 1st left Parra were willing to let him go back to Wee Waa for a leave of absence meet his mates, go pig hunting etc and then come back and they were even going to pay him his salary in that time.

But they asked him to make a decsion he still claimed to be sick of city life

6 weeks later he was on a plane to St Helens.

Maybe Sterlo should get over his grudge and grow up himself.

From what i've read and heard, Sterlo couldn't hold down a job also before Ch 9 & retirement.

I remember Tallis sitting out a season before going to join the Broncs the following year. Although he didn't lie about it, was it any different?

surely there must be a cheaper alternative to Lyon. I think hes had his chance. id prefer to throw money at a younger 5/8 (if J. Smith or Mateo is not holding down a 1st grade spot) or front rower.
