Steven Bell Injury

Any word on how serious Bell's injury was? I heard fractured cheekbone (not sure how accurate that is).

Is he in doubt for origin 3? If so Egg would no doubt keep his spot and Inglis would move to the centres.

How f**kin' gnarly did it look in super-slow motion when menzies collected him! fair dinkum, did you see his cheeks flap!?

Common sense wold dictate Ingliss back into the centres but Berrigan is also an an option with Bowen coming back to the bench. Billy Slater would have to be a long shot for a spot in the backline on either the wing or centre.

Mogg deserves to stay and can play wing or centre.

But make no mistake, Bell is a HUGE loss! He was not used properly on the wing in game 1. He is a centre who thrives off running in broken play and splitting the defense and going up the ruck. Last night was as good as what you'll see Steven Bell play cos he was in his natural position and he got service from the forwarda and halves to work his magic.

If Bell's unavailable then Tate back to his preferred centre position, Inglis back onto the wing, Berrigan to stay one the bench.

Bowen can be 18th man for the rest of his life as far as i am concerned.

I think, barring injury, it might be a while before Matty sees another Maroon jumper.

Ingliss into the centres, no real loss and a gain anyway. No problem! Bowen has more chance of winning Lotto than playing!

Hunt, Mogg, Inglis, Hodges, Tate. Thats a good backline for Origin. I love that all those players are strong and effective at getting yardage out of dummy half.

Tate isn't a left sided player IMO; it basically nullifies his biggest weapon (that right foot step).

If Bell is out: Hunt, Tate, Hodges, Inglis, Mogg

Back to the point of the thread though, anyone heard how serious his injury is and if he will miss game time?

Bell is out for at least a month, this article from rleague

Queensland and Manly centre Steve Bell will miss the State of Origin decider after sustaining a fractured cheekbone in Queensland's 30-6 victory against New South Wales last night.

Bell had a solid game for the Maroons and would have been a certain selection for the decider to be played in Melbourne, the city where he made his original mark as a first grade footballer who would progress to the Origin level.

The 30-year-old will be out for a month and his loss will be a blow to both the Maroons and Sea Eagles. Bell's injury happened in a head clash with Manly team-mate and NSW forward Steve Menzies in the final stages of Queensland's impressive victory.

Bell spent the night in Wesley Hospital and is expected to be released later today.

The good news for Manly supporters is that Menzies and front-rower Brent Kite came through unscathed and will be available for the Sea Eagles clash against Cronulla on Saturday night with the winner of that match to take 4th position on the ladder.

With Bell being unavailable, the Queensland selectors will no doubt rush Greg Inglis back into the centres if he's fit and healthy or they'll be sweating on Willie Tonga to recover from a hamstring injury in time for the decider. Another option would be Billy Slater who is back from suspension next week with both Brent Tate and Adam Mogg capable of playing in the centres.
