Steven Kearney's big conundrum...

I thought he'd stay in SL, at a bigger club... but it's seeming less likely.

There were big rumours of Saints. That would probably depend on Pryce leaving, but he's in good form and doesn't appear hampered by the injury.

Catalan have Bosc and a bunch of young halves, don't see why they'd bother.

Leeds have Burrow and McGuire.

Warrington Ratchford and Myler.

Wigan are probably the best option. Deacon and Finch surely won't hang around for too long.

He really should come home, it's probably only Melbourne that couldn't find a space for him.

On this seasons form Foran is defintely better than Marshall! Heck he could win the Dally M!

In regards to Chase its not really that hard to win the Man of Steel is it? Im not saying he isn't a decent player Im just saying he aint nowhere near Foran, Marshall, Luke or Fien. If he was surely he would be back in the NRL, he has signalled he wants to come back but no takers. He just gave me the willys when he was in the halves for the maoris vs england (after a season of carving it up in the ESL), it was shades of Kiwi games when we had sh*t halves. Hopefully we dont go down that track again!

Foran is not better than Chase. Not even close. Foran is not better than Leuluai. Foran is certainly not better than Marshall. And as it is, Fien has a couple of trophies in his Kiwi cabinet. Foran has lacklustre losses.

Why is Foran a better option? Is it the fact that every time he has played, NZ have not only lost, but looked clueless and a shadow of themselves?

Foran's best work this season appears to have been hurling himself at the try line. I'll give you the hot tip, that's not what the Kiwis need.

He's not even the best half at his clubs FFS.

I cannot fathom how you can possibly believe Foran has been the best 5/8 this season.
Surely your fishing.....Chase couldn't even direct a Maori team against a weakened England team. Isn't Pat Richards one of the best players in the ESL?

Is this the same Rangi Chase that was man of the match as he led a bunch of patched together Exiles to a win over a near strength England earlier this year?

I love the 'but isn't [insert former NRL player] a star in the ESL' line. Pat Richards is prolific in the Wigan backline. He was good over here and is good in England.

I'd take Chase at 5/8 for the Bulldogs next year easily, the guy has improved immensely.

Foran has been outstanding this season... he's had the likes of Wally Lewis, Phil Gould, Peter Sterling, Andrew Johns, Brad Fittler, Warren Ryan etc... give him massive raps over how he's been playing this season.

Why is Foran a better option?

Because hes performing extremely well in a much tougher competition than Chase & Leuluai. and hes performing better than Nathan Fien.

Is it the fact that every time he has played, NZ have not only lost, but looked clueless and a shadow of themselves?

and you blame Foran for that?? he's played 4 tests... 2 of which were in the halves... both of those games in the halves were in the ANZAC test. which is just a stitch up. and in the ANZAC test this season he certainly didn't disgrace himself. infact he did some very special things in that game.

yet somehow you can write off Forans test aspirations on the back of that limited exposure to test football??

if we followed your logic... Benji Marshall wouldn't be playing for NZ at the moment because his first few tests were even worse than Forans.

and should we judge Rangi Chase on his rep games?? because he's been terrible every time he plays for the Maori.

seriously dude... you either haven't been watching much of the NRL this season... or your just plain geniused.

Apart from all the plaudits he's earned from the legends in our game.. The fact that he's in the running for the Dally M should be an indication of how well he's been going this season.

you deadset sound like a Pommy Castleford fan... who's trying to talk up Rangi Chase.

i hope you don't pick rangi chase......
he will be in the mix for sure...

but to get a start hes up against the current golden boot holder... and the hot favorite for Dally M 5/8 of the Year who's also contender for Dally M Player of the Year.

we have a fair amount of depth at the moment...

I agree with you that Foran is a great player and deserves his spot but i wouldn't read much into those comments. These are the same sort of people who were calling Tim Smith the next Peter Sterling.

Personally i think Foran is the better player right now by a decent margin and the fact that he is playing in the NRL is in his favour.

matt orford won the dally M medal in 2008...thats gotta take some gloss off the award.....

plus rangi chase is currently top of the "albert goldthorpe medal" table...our 'dally M medal'...rangi is also joint favourite for the super league 'man of steel' award with james roby..

chase is also likely to with the " RL writers player of the year" award and the pontefract-castleford express 'billybigbollocks' award....

trust me chase will win more awards than foran this season

Matt Orford went on to lead Manly to the NRL Premiership that season.... thats a massive achievement.

Rangi Chase is leading the player of the year award for a substandard competition... i mean seriously... look at the past winners...

2010 Pat Richards - a winger who was never even rated the best winger in the NRL let alone the best player...

2009 Micheal Dobson - a guy who wasnt even good enough to play 30 games in the NRL...

2008 Danny Brough - WTF... Who???

yeah im sure Chase will win plenty of awards... but none that would go close to matching a Dally M.

Foran is better than DCE. ;-)

He is a better defender, stronger runner, better ball player and overall tougher than Rangi Chase. DCE is a good young talent, but Foran is as good a talent as there is.

Also Kalifa Faifailoa if available must be considered on the wing IMO.

KFFL definitely has to be a chance.

Please guys, continue to believe that the leading player in Super League is pish. Behind Marshall and Foran but not pish.

I sound like a Wests Tigers fan who thought Chase was an over rated glory hog who didn't want to do the hard work to become what he should have been and wanted him gone.

Now, I sound like someone who has actually watched him. He's first class. Really, really good.

As mentioned, those are the same guys who rated Mortimer as the next Aussie half. The only one I really trust is Gould, and he's said he won't come good for a while yet.

If we followed my logic, Benji would have been held back from club and international football til he was ready. Just as Foran should be.

I agree the Anzac test is a harder test, but it was laughable sitting at Melbourne a few years back watching him. He had time and space and could only keep kicking the ball back to Slater. He, so far, doesn't suit what the Kiwis do. I think he's calmer style of play may be useful down the track, but only when he's REALLY good at it.

Tell me, is Foran going to outpoint Lockyer and Thurston in a war of attrition like he does at Manly? I'd be surprised if you thought yes.

The Kiwis take the game to the Aussies... that just isn't Foran's style of play.

Tell me, have you watched Chase go around?

Pat Richards is probably the best Winger in the world at the moment, apart from Vatuvei when he's on song. He was devastating in winning an NRL premiership with one leg. He's a thousand times better at the moment.

I agree with the majority of what you've said mate, but judging him on 'being terrible every time he plays for Maori' is harsh and exactly what you were berating Westie about RE Foran. He's only played for them twice hasn't he? Wrong to judge him on only 2 performances.

Aku Uate is better than Richards ever was in the NRL. Mind you Richards was always talented but a winger winning a games best player award is a slap in the face really.
