I think Danny Williams and John Hopoate would be two sensational buys for any club. Throw in Greg Bird for extra starch.........

They're the players that I believe are still on the market. There might be a few others and some may be mistakes but I'm pretty confident in the one's here. If you see a mistake or I've missed a player point it out.

He's played reasonably well when available but has been injured a lot.

I wouldn't expect him to strap on the boots again next year.

Kirk Reynoldson is yet to be signed for 2005.

done deal with the knights :D

NEWCASTLE has helped fill the void created by the departure of Ben Kennedy next season, signing Melbourne forward Kirk Reynoldson to a four-year NRL deal.

The Knights announced the Reynoldson coup at their weekly press conference in Newcastle today.

The 25-year-old Reynoldson, originally from the Queensland country town of Wandoan, admitted the lure of playing in a rugby league-oriented town was a major factor in his decision to leave Melbourne.

"Coming from west Queensland, I've grown up with rugby league and that is something I have missed here in Melbourne," Reynoldson said.

"Playing at EnergyAustralia Stadium, even as the enemy, has always been an experience I've enjoyed, so to run out as part of the home team is something I am definitely looking forward to.

"I've really enjoyed myself at Melbourne and I'm very grateful for the opportunity that the Storm have given me, but the opportunity in Newcastle is a different one and too good to pass up."

The 25-year-old also admitted the chance to play for a "high-profile" team such as Newcastle, under Queensland coach Michael Hagan, was high in his thoughts.

"Playing alongside the likes of Andrew Johns, Danny Buderus and Matthew Gidley is a real plus and working under the Queensland Origin coach is another attraction for me," he said.

"Like all Queenslanders it's a dream to play Origin and I am hoping that if I can perform in a high-profile team like the Knights, I might be a little closer to achieving that dream."

Hagan, who will be without the services of forwards Kennedy (Manly), Matt Parsons (retirement) and Michael Ennis (St George Illawarra) as well as international winger Timana Tahu (Parramatta) next season, said he was pleased the club got its man.

"I think that Kirk is one of the most improved players in the competition over the last two seasons and I'm hoping that we will see further improvement after he joins our club," Hagan said.

"Certainly the loss of Ben Kennedy and Matt Parsons next year had left a hole in our forwards stocks, but I am very confident that Kirk will complement our team extremely well.

"My expectations for the team are very high next year and I know that we will have the squad to meet those expectations."

People said the same of Steve Price and Ruben Wiki.

Peachey said he would have no problems playing for the Warriors if there was no offer frmo the Sharks, I'm sure the likes of O'Davis etc would also move around if they wanted to go around again but the Knights didn't front up financially.

Peachey is staying at Cronulla. He re-signed for 1 more year.

Peachey to stay at Sharks next year
18:15 AEST Tue Jul 20 2004

The news Sharks fans have been sweating on was announced with star fullback David Peachey re-signing for another NRL season.

And Sharks CEO Steve Rogers has not ruled out extending Peachey's tenure.

"We believe David still has a lot to offer the club and are very happy that he has decided to remain at the Sharks for at least another year," Rogers said.

"And although we have agreed to a one year deal, Peach and I will be sitting down again at this time next year to discuss whether or not he may have another year in him after that.

"I guess that will be up to him and will depend on how he performs between now and then.

"We have no doubt he has plenty of good football left in him."

During the negotiations there was speculation Cronulla's favourite son was unhappy with the one-year deal offered by the Sharks and had been linked to other NRL clubs including the New Zealand Warriors.

In a statement, the Sharks admitted there had been "a great deal of conjecture surrounding his contract negotiations".

But in a dramatic turnaround, Peachey, 30, agreed to stay for a 12th year with the NRL club with a possible extension beyond 2005.

"I'm very pleased that we've been able to come to an agreement and that I'll be staying at the Sharks next season," Peachey said.

"This is where it all started for me and I've never really wanted to play anywhere else.

"This secures my future for next year and lets me get on with playing some good football for the Sharks."

The playmaker arrived at the Sharks from hometown Dubbo in 1993 at the age of 21 and quickly enjoyed cult status while securing NSW Origin (2000) and NSW Country (2003) honours as well as one Super League Test in 1997.

Peachey also enjoyed a high profile off the field, working with Aboriginal and under privileged youth and conducting clinics throughout NSW country regions.

Peachey was named on the bench for the Sharks' NRL clash with St George Illawarra at Oki Jubilee Stadium on Sunday but is still in doubt with an on-going quadriceps injury.

He will undergo scans Wednesday.

"At this stage he has been named on a five-man bench but if fit is almost certain to take his place in the side at fullback," a team spokesman said.

Meanwhile, Rogers said the club was still talking with Parramatta and former Sharks pivot Adam Dykes who was waiting on a release from the Eels.

Rogers was hopeful of making an announcement on Dykes - who played for Cronulla from 1995-2001 before linking with the Eels - as early as this week.

And the Sharks are also negotiating with suspended half Greg Bird who comes off contract at the end of the season.

Isn't Frawley on the Market for the broncos?

Willow and Hoppa have been offered contracts by Manly.

mail is strong up here that Frawley will sign with the Raiders as a centre

somewhat of a loss for us, but won't fix the Raiders problems .... they're destined for the cellar or near to it in 2005

Oink !

The Raiders juniors are very very good footballers, but they do lack halves, Mclinden has not come on, and Gafa is no 5/8.

They need to buy someone, and If I were them, I would be going to Parra and speaking to M Witt. I know he signed a 4 year deal with parra last season, but hey, He may be on the move.

They need someone. 2 players. Both Halves.

Find them and they can still do well next season.

To be honest, they need Weyman big time.
