Stop ! Mark Geyer says that Orford is not the answer

Back in his canberra days. I still remember them. Need to see more of it, that off load to a flying jarryd hayne would be magic

But we did have a player like that his name was Feleti. But the fans bagged him and the FORMER coach didn't want him.

But it's the boards fault :sarcasm: how dare they go by what the coach wanted!!

No probs mate, just think while the board have made mistakes this year but blaming all our on field woes on them is pushing it just a little bit to far. A halfback was the major problem with last season IMO.
Yeh i understand where your coming from. I wont hide from the fact we need a half back and i for sure am crossing my fingers we can get orford. Just think the board didnt help out at all this year, they need to stop the leaks if we are to be succesful next year.
I think it comes down to as a whole club we weren't where we needed to be and the younger guys have learn't a huge lesson.

Mark Geyer is a brain-dead idiot. I am surprised that he keeps getting jobs in the media.

Who cares what he says? He wouldn't know what is going on, he probably reads this forum for his "research".

But if Orford comes then there won't be room for the best player ever Humble!

Please, no Orford. I'd rather Humble, Robson, McGuire or Murray at Half. Hate Orford as a player.

i love how people just decide we can swap Morts with Orford  ..... because of course Morts wouldn't have any say it in - players are just assets to be flipped around the world as it suits us

well that's exactly the case in say the NFL, NBA, MLB or NHL in the US....exactly the case

and - like or not - its probably the way the NRL is heading, it already has to a large extent....and is exactly what MG is suggesting....that we ask for a trade effectively, and would hypothetically go something like this:

EELS Trade*

Robson
Mitchell

BULLS Trade*

Orford

* = Please don't freak out, this is purely hypothetical to illustrate a point. ie. the sky is not falling, thank you for your time ;-)

seriously this could be the way League is headed, and as I said it already has a bit, with teams releasing some players and basically asking for another in return.....i'm not saying i def agree with it, but it could well happen......also, MG contradicted himself, although i agree about the Board to some extent, Parra lacked direction or a rudder on the field, and as i said above - i have never really rated him - but he at least will bring direction and is someone who can order the forwards around.....if we get him

Ok let me get this straight ...

The Board has no say in player recruitment or retention as they have stated in the report, then it is their fault that who super coach anderson wanted to keep ...

hmmmmmmmm .... As for where Hadley gets his info from, makes me wonder where the leaks are coming from.

If he has a problem with all who is associated with 3P then who does that leave then

... I wonder ....

Mark Geyer stick to what you are good at, and don't get inovled just because you think you know something when you seriously have no idea !!

MG is half right and half wrong.
Yes, we definitely need a halfback and Orford fits the bill, but we also need the front office fixed up asap.

yes I understand this is the case in sports which are a million times bigger than our tiny little foothold in the sporting world ..... but its not the case in the NRL and will probably be fought against every time they try and do it just like in the past .... so for anyone to even think it can just simply happen tomorrow, they are deadset off their rockers .... we still follow a sport where players primarily dictate their futures

Surely the board can't be blamed entirely for our on field performances especially considering we were defensively one of the best teams in the NRL this season. Had we been a complete rabble on field then blaming the board would be justified.

For most of the games i watched i felt like i was watching a really great football team that just could not score. No matter how good we defended in the game, we just had NOTHING in our 5th tackle options. That is not the boards fault that is the 6 and 7's fault. So bringing Orford in our team would effectively go a long way in solving the problem we had this year and i just dont see how the Board has anything to do with that!

i'm about 1000000000000% certain no one has ever suggested they are entirely to blame

Im referring to MG saying this:

"I think the board and behind the scenes is their problem at the moment, not what's going on on the field", says MG.

Sorry for using the word entirely. Next time i will take my thesaurus out and find a more appropriate word so my whole post wont be picked on because of the one word .

Yep, seems to me too sarah that MG is entirely blaming the board!

sorry - i wasn't trying to have a massive go at you or anything - i just don't believe anyone thinks its just the board

if you asked MG he'd probably tell you something completely different  - he never has anything to back himself up

Yeah I don't believe anyone- with the exception of mg the know it all - think that either. That's why I was trying to outline how it was incorrect to have that mentality lol .
