Titans capture two more players
By James Hooper
July 13, 2006

GOLD Coast yesterday secured the signatures of Parramatta centre Brett Delaney and South Sydney back rower Mark Minichiello for 2007.

And in another boost to the Titans' impressive build-up as the NRL's 16th team next season, Sharks prop James Stosic also appears set to join the club. Gold Coast coach John Cartwright last night hailed the key signatures as another step in the right direction for the fledgling NRL outfit.
"We've got young fellas who are 20, 21, 22 years old, and we've also got some good real hard-heads in the right positions," Cartwright said.
"There's a good mix here and (Minchiello's) experienced enough to be one of the leaders in the team."
With Delaney heading north of the border next season, the Sharks are now expected to sign North Queensland centre Josh Hannay.

Brisbane rookie Fraser Anderson met the Sharks yesterday while the Broncos have dropped out of the race for Nate Myles.

Does anyone have any idea what is going on in the club???

So there it is. Bott, Hannay and Anderson look like being the outside back signings for 2007. Not terrible if we get them all.

Good luck to Stoss if he goes, He would never have got a starting gig with Douglas and Ross infront of him here.

Be a shame to see Stos go, he's a tough cookie and an honest relaible workhorse. My tip is he has a big future in the NRL. BTW, if I give you a tip on a nag, just ignore me.

Stosic has stepped up but he is still terribly inconsistent. I would have liked to of kept him for depth but I don't think he wants to be a PL player.

Not too bothered about him leaving. Ross, Douglas, Stapleton, and possibly Villa are a good enough prop core...

I would like to thank the person who pointed out the titans hadnt targeted any sharks yet. I was hoping we slipped under the radar.

Stos had time on his side. With him going, I think the retention of Villa just became a priority

It doesn't make sense does it!

We re-sign Stos and Cliff last year(along with kinga), yet we let 2 of the 3 go! Waste of money or complete stupidity in recruiting???

Not that stos will be a major loss but if there is no planning for the future at this club what do we plan for? Just each year as it comes???

Stos wasnt resigned last year. He was on a two year deal when we signed him from Newtown. Cant remember about Cliff but is it actually confirmed that he is leaving anyway?

Its not managements fault if the player just wants to leave. Stosic states that the family he has up there was a big factor as well.
What loyalty has he shown to the club who signed him as a nobody and brought up into first grade.

What loyalty should he show to a club who happily shafted one of their best ever players who is still playing far better than the management favourite who replaced him?

It doesn't look like the club is in any rush signing him! Chances are he will be joining Lafi at the chooks! Different story if the great man Sludge was still here(in a lot of AREAS!)
