Yeah it was declared by the NRL that it was Chris Beattie strongest, doing 180kg. But that was topped by Sonny Fai, who did 185 - But he hasn't technically played NRL yet even though he's in the Warriors squad of 25.

Pffft.... Luke Rooney can do 300kg squats.

Penrith winger Luke Rooney has knuckled down in the pre-season in an attempt to return to representative football and strength and conditioning coach Carl Jennings has rated him the club's "best all-round athlete".
The former Kangaroo's figures are impressive. He can bench his own weight of 100kg 15 times, squat three times his body weight 65 times and shoulder press half his weight an amazing 49 times.
In an endurance assessment - in which Jennings tested how far the Panthers can run in one minute - Rooney recorded the best distance of 440m.
Those figures are expected to improve when the Panthers complete a round of testing this weekend.
In all, the Panthers' skinfold levels have come down 30 per cent as part of new coach Matt Elliott's focus on fitness and mobility.
"We're a lot leaner and people will recognise that when we start playing," Jennings said. "There's no point looking like Tarzan if you play like Jane."

none of this pound for pound crud and in saying that the strongest does not equate to the heaviest guy like some are going.

i would have to say tony puletua: takes 3 guys to stop him and doesnt allways go to ground.

also carl webb: read somewhere that he could have been an olympic weightlifter and he has punched holes in heavy duty punching bags.

If by Olympic weighlifter you mean criminal and by heavy duty punching bags you mean lightweight halfbacks-then yes, its all true!

do these journo's realise some of the crap they put to print?

Yeh, it didn't sound quite right. When you consider people like Arnold Swarznegger (sp) and Ronnie Coleman could/can only squat about 600-700 pounds (roughly 270-320 kgs) for 15-20 reps Rooneys lifts seem out of this world.
