NSW Blues coach Ricky Stuart says he still wants to coach the Raiders but says he doesn't know when.

The former Green Machine star has been touted as a possible replacement for struggling coach David Furner.

Stuart has told Capital Radio coaching the side is tough job and he understands what Furner is going through but isn't saying when would be a good time for him.

Just bite the bullet and give him a contract. At the very least he will fix up our horrendous defence plus he will attract good players.

I'd take anyone over furner to coach the side. Anyone. Stuart would be a godsend.

furner is one of, if not the worst coach in the history of the game. The longer he stays the worse the club gets.

With fans interest waning and sponsors questioning the direction of the club, surely something has to give, sooner rather than later.

If it comes out at some point that Stuart was available and ready to go but the board put their pride before what is best for the club, Raiders HQ will make downtown Kabul look like an evening stroll through Floriade.

more rumours Parra are going to sign him up after origin, but the same old news is constantly being thrown around i dont think we will get rid of Furner but i hope we do

the worst thing is.. the board probably think furner is untested.. with the injuries to campo and dugan they probs think its not furners fault.. ill be shocked but SO happy if Furner is sacked.. if we miss this opportunitty to sign Stuart.. im blaming Mgmt and will not follow the raiders any more*, as it will just be to frustrating to keep supporting such a poorly run club.

*assuming David Furner is the coach.

Again... The issue isn't that Furner can't coach... It's that he is too much of a nice guy and a club legend (which FAR too many people are forgetting)... Your boss, in 99% of situations can NOT be your best mate too... It just doesn't work....

I say make Furner the Player Manager (which we already have someone in but I'm sure we can shift them elsewhere) and bring in someone else...

That said, not f**king Stuart... Why the f**k would we want someone who managed to lose Australia the world cup and only claim to fame is winning in his first year as a coach with a team that would have won with ANYONE in charge of it...

NRL Xtra after the Raiders game stated that he is almost a sure thing to sign with the Raiders unless NSW put in a massive offer (which is also apparantly unlikely).

Also meantioned that we had Bellamy signed up to coach us then dropped him (so paid for him to coach elsewhere for a year) to get Elliot instead.... If we do get Stuart I just hope it doesn't end up the same way...

To be fair. Elliot had just won premierships in ESL. Bellamy was an assistant at the Broncos. Just shows the next great coach could be anywhere.

I would happily take kearney over furner. Hell, I'd happily take the first bum in the queue at centrelink over him.

the lack of communication with fans and members really is pathetic though. Why should fans continue to support the club when management couldn't give a f**k about them. I await another end of season review that recommends furner be re-signed until the end of the decade and that players should only drink blue powerade instead of red.

How come once it is mentioned stuart may have signed with eels you talk him down (in the nrl forum) ? Why didnt you talk him down in this threat ?
