He played almost 50% of games in 06 and 07 (if he's plyed 22 it means 21 of em were post 05).

We have played 48 games .. we have won 22/48 games ... shannon is 3/21 post 05 that means when he didn't play in 06 and 07 the team won 18/27 ... that is 2/3 - give or take ... over a 24 game season vish a 2/3 win ratio = 16 wins ... 32 points plus a bye ... can you please tell me where 36 (or 34 last yr) oints would get a side each year since 2000. It would not have missed the top 4 once

Or maybe this is all just a big statistical anomoly ??

So you`re a bloke who claims to have a bit of knowledge about the game, who spends plenty of time and money on travelling around watching the side each season and you`re honestly going to try and tell me that we were good enough to make the top 4 in `2006 and `2007 "IF" Shannon McDonnell DID NOT play a game in first grade ???

The facts are there vish ... is i a statistical anomoly (and a f**king massive one at that) .. or do we lose when he plays because he contributes nothing in attack or defence ?? For me, it's the latter .. he's a passenger and we can't win with passengers

ladies, keep it on topic.

otherwise, i think we should request that the admins create a WT sub forum, called the world according to MOTH.
which can be populated by a random text gnerator that spits out a combination of the words "turd" "morris" "junior burger" "spastic" "5110" and "super coach" into everythread.

Why don't i stop when shines stops picking that f**king prick morris ?
And when ronald stops re-signing his mongaloid sprog on 3 yr contracts so we can't make offers to international centres ?

there is a reason Moltzen is in the top 25, and named in this trial.
Morris will be under pressure to keep his job.

anyone know what kind of money Nikki Websters backup dancer was signed for anyway?
i doubt it was Fatz 400k asking fee.

You need to realise that wingers don`t win or lose you games. Halatau was great in `2005, that doesn`t excuse him for doing nothing over the next 2 seasons and being paid for it.
Last seasons grand finalists were Melbourne and Manly, do you really believe their wingers played a huge part ??? You could have had Shannon McDonnell, Daniel Fitzhenry or Jackson Kaufusi for that matter on the end of their backlines and they still would`ve been the grand finalists. It`s fantastic and an added bonus if you can have top class wingers, but they are the least important and therefore get paid the least. If you seriously believe Shannon McDonnell is one of the main contributing factors as to why our last 2 seasons have been very ordinary, then you definately need to get off the Calvin`s !!!!

mate i agree, its pretty rare a winger will win you a game. however they sure as hell can lose you one. a team is only as good as their weakest link. see the last game of the season for us in 07, marshall basically cost us a spot in the finals due to his pathetic defence on the wing.

there have been numerous occassions where mcdonnell (usually at fullback) has gifted the opposition tries that have lead to us losing a game.

We all know sheens won't pick one of the young halves when it matters and will pick the turd until he has no option. What other cretin laments the loss of a spastic like Buettner when he has a Benji Marshall ready to play ... there's one ... and it's our own Tom Shines ... lucky we signed him another 3 yrs

The simple fact is that NO winger unless he is one of the best in the game, can make a big enough impact to determine whether or not his team wins or loses. This is plain and simple and if you can`t understand this you are quite simply farked in the head !!!

I disagree. A mong winger can most certainly determine whether his team wins or loses.

Take Moodies no look flick against the Cowboys last year. That ridiculous play cost us the match.

Ok, I was getting a bit carries away, as Tiger Nick said, it`s very rare that a winger will win you a game, but it is nice to have mistake free wingers that won`t cost you a game.
The point i`m getting at is that wingers are ALMOST always the last spots on each teams roster to be filled under a salary cap system as they are classed as the least important.

If you really want to, you could even say that farkin stupid flick pass cost us a top 8 spot!!

As for wingers rarely winning games for you.....let me see now Matt Rogers, Hazem El Masri, Brent Tate, Matt Geyer, Michael Gordon, Luke Rooney, Nathan Nerritt, Eric Grothe, Amos Roberts, Pat Richards, Joel Monaghan, Jarryd Hayne, Daniel Fitzhenry, Luke Covell, Israel Folau just to name a few off the top of my head......

Get real mate, thats ONE instance...moth is talking about something like 18 outta 22 games hes lost for us single handedly.
Whole ideas a f**king nonsense, this pointing the finger attitude is really really pathetic.
But thats hardly surprising for here now is it.

..

You could if you had a personal agenda against a player, or the mindset of a 7 year old.

Though those with a bit of a clue would probably look at the last few games where we dropped em & bent over as more of a guide to missing the 8.

Yeah and not many of them have stayed on the wing for very long, it`s simply unaffordable to pay big money for a winger under the salary cap.
We simply weren`t good enough in a number of areas over the past 2 seasons and I hardly think that Shannon McDonnell was the main contributing reason, do you ?

Plenty of those players have spent a long time on the wings.
As for Shannon Mac, i do believe he was a big (not the ONLY)factor of the games in which he played which resulted in a loss. On several occassions he couldn't handle the pressure that was applied on him from the opposition in a key position. As i've stated in the past, i think he is a remarkable player in PL and is a class above, and his stints in first grade were fast tracked by the powers that be which has shown him up. I still believe if he was to debut in 2008 or 2009 and wasn't rushed through the ranks that he would be a much more experienced composed 1st grade player. He was rushed through as a Folau, Lawrence or Inu type mould who became superstars at the age of 18 or so, but it clearly shows he isn't one of "those" players.
