i think fans can accept if theres injuries we have young players in the team but having situations like a few years ago where 11 storm were sitting out is beyond a joke. it's insulting to the fans and makes a mockery of the game.

Talk about overly dramatic. As for Melbourne, for some reason I don't think it affected them too badly in the end.

Not saying I disagree, but having rep players missing from club matches has always been part of the game since 1908.

The advantage RL has over every other code in Australia is that we have 3 tiers that are not just economically powerful, but that we all agree are worth participating in, supporting and watching.

The NRL argues (and I tend agree) that they have a Top 8 (rather than a Top 5) to address the fact that clubs are impacted by absences due to rep football and this can affect results.

The Russell Crowe idea of playing Origin and Tests after the Grand Final has merit, but I'm not sure that we should be fiddling with the current timing of Origin given how successful it is.

My own thought is that the 3 pre Origin weekends should be used to run a NRL knockout competition (8 matches, 4 matches, 2 matches) with a mid-week Cup Final at Lang Park in late July or early August.

I personaly would be excited about about dedication 3 weekends for origin and other rep footy, can you imagine what you can do with the scheduling..

Friday Night: City V Country (NSW)
City V Country (Queensland)

Saturday Night: Origin 1
NYC Origin as a curtain raiser.

Sunday: Tonga V Fiji
PNG V Samoa

Pacific island cup.

Monday: Aboriginals V NZ Maori (3 game series)

can you imagine the interest leading up to the weekend?

This is the best idea.

Three consecutive Saturday night Origins with a Pacific Nations Cup held in conjunction would be awesome.

Keep Origin how it is. There is nothing wrong with it. Massive anticipation throughout the season and especially the week before. Who cares about teams having players out? Kids get their chance to push for a place. If Origin is held at the end of the season then it would be squashed between the Grand Final and the International fixtures, plus we will lose the anticipation throughout the first half of the year. Attention will only be turned to Origin after the Grand Final.

I like origin on a wednesday. It's the perfect setup. The NRL need to do something to improve the split rounds and such on the wknds that precede origin, but overall having origin on wednesdays has been a great success and I see no reason to change it simply because a few pea heads think they have an amazing blueprint for the representive rugby league schedule.

Don't change a thing, i love origin how it is, we get more games on the weekend before and after and we get the blockbuster mid week, i have no complaints having a late one on the wednesday, plus the build up at work on the wednesday is awesome.

What was about the 2001 Sunday Night experiment that caused it not to work and it was put back to the Wednesday Night? The year before they played them on a Friday Night

Leave it as Wednesday. Put in on Friday or Sunday and my girlfriend may cause me to miss it with social function or transport back from family occasion.

On a Wednesday night "I'm working late." :)

I would absolutly kill to see a SOO match on a Sunday arvo. Can you imagine the intensity and the speed of it? It would be insane. If an Origin match were to go to NZ, would a 4pm kick off be worth it for a 6pm start in Aus?
