What the Reds needs to do is to get their act together and start playing some of the Pacific Islanders in their extended squad and from the Reds College .
The days of the private schools are over and the new generations of players are coming through from the state schools .
Pacific Islands kids in Brisbane are now playing the game they love and have seen a large numbers of state schools (league schools) taking up the 15 man game .
Schools like St Francis , Masden High , Wavell High , Sandgate etc and most of the state schools in Ipswich district and Logan district have now got a comp of their own (state comp) .
There are hundreds of Pacific Island kids who are now playing club rugby after been overlook by the Reds .
Guys like Daniel Leo , Junior Hunt , Herman Hunt , Peter Niumata , Digdy Ioane , Ole Avei and Tarjon Mailata should now be allowed to start for the Reds .
They need that Pacific Island touch and the Reds will be like the Blues .

When the era of Lloyd Johannsen and Scott Daruda comes through the Reds could be better. (don't know if they are PI but they sorta look a bit that way - maybe Daruda is PNG)

I watched the 'tahs V. Sharkes game this morning

The 'tahs betetr hope that Rogers doesn't get injured this year, becasue they will miss him like hell if he does.

Pretty convincing away win, but the Sharks were not that impressive, line outs were terribel and not much direction in thier attak.

Their fullback certainly has some talent, forget his name, he scored a solo try, he has pace and a good step.

It could be a good year for the Waratahs but I haven't seen them play a top team yet.

Who the hell would want a backline like the Blues after fridays match?
The Crusaders are twice the side the Blues are.
I was impressed with the Hurricanes win, Gopperth stepped up big time and controlled the match nicely.

I agree, last week the 'canes managed to win through great loose forward play and the midfield work of Umaga and Nonu but their tight five (particularly the lineout) was a shambles, however this week the whole side put their hands up, the scrums & lineouts were ok, even winning a few against the throw, and their defence and general play with ball in hand was outstanding. 9 points from 2 matches on the road so far, the 'Canes could be shaping as a surprise package this year. (Although the wheels will probably fall off just when we're expecting them to win as usual)

Do you always make your opinion on one bad game ?

Wellington and the Sharks could have won the S12 last year . They were leading the points table going into the last four games .
But they nearly lost all their home games which would put them 1st and 2nd .

Brent Russel, he really is awesome.

They lost any chance of winning when they took him off with about 20 to go.

Nope - after watching them play like crap in 2004 along with the Auckland NPC side who are almost the same team as the Blues and after two games this years they have looked like a pretty ho-hum outfit.
The Hurricanes didnt come first or second because they sucked.

It was a good game. The Tah's missed Rogers last year when he got injured. This year they look more composed. It is still early season but at this stage I would pick them for the top 4.
