Super 12 Tipping Comp 2005

OK sports fans,, Friday 25th February and its your chance to gain revenge on the very skillful Poida Raider and hammer him in the 2005 LU Super 12 Tipping comp.

The prizes ( yes, First AND second this year) have been obtained and in keeping with the tipping comp tradition, they wont be named until we have a winner/s.
Can say that they are excellent prizes and I really dont want to part with them.

Rules are,
1 Point for a win
2 Points for a draw ( if you pick it)
no late entries, ie no entries will be recieved after kickoff of the first game of the particular round ( usually 7-30 pm nz)

I will play but will disallow myself from being a prize winner

feel free to give reviews/previews,, might just help someone out.

Despite a change of coach the Brumbies are favoured by the TAB rugby bookies to retain their Super 12 rugby title in 2005.


David Nucifora has moved on to help out the Blues but there is still a hard core of experience at Canberra Stadium to cope with that loss. Gregan, Larkham, Mortlock, Rathbone and company will be a tough welcoming committee for any arrivals in the Aussie capital and if they can get their share of wins away from home will be tough to bowl once again in the competition.



The Brumbies open their campaign at home against the Crusaders in a repeat of last years final and this will go a long way towards telling us about the respective strengths of the heavyweights. The Crusaders traditionally start slowly and build towards a peak but they will be keen to avenge the hiding they received in the final.



By their own high standards the Blues were poor in 2004 and their third favouritism this year is a reflection of the power and talent they have in their squad. They have the ability but do they have the required nous to win a fourth title?



The only other side in single figures is the terminal underachieving Waratahs. They promise something every season, often start well,. but crash and burn. Back them if you wish but be warned that at some stage they'll have some shockers.



Of the remainder the Hurricanes might be a reasonable bet after the excellent form of many of their players on the end-of-season All Black tour, the Chiefs will be looking to repeat their first semi final appearance in 2004 and the Stormers will be keen to make that top 4 again, as they did last season.



The first round of games kicks off on the weekend of February 25, 26 and 27.
