How can the Chiefs only have one hooker? Willis is injury prone as they come. Also can't believe Auckland let Smith slip for Sommerset.

Aled de Malmanche is a prop and hooker.

linkliter will probably be in the five training with the squad if hes still contracted to the nzrfu

aled de bla bla is the designated hooker reserve. another person to miss out was tim dow the northland hooker with the blues this year and luke mahoney the hooker for wellington

You sure Malmanche can throw straight? From what I saw hes not the best hooker especially if Willis gets injured. I suspect the Chiefs will be calling Linkliter over if Willis gets injured.

Former skipper Tood Blackadder is back with the Crusaders, taking on an advisory role with the coaching team
Former Crusaders skipper Todd Blackadder has rejoined the franchise in an advisory capacity.
Blackadder, who is the Director of Rugby with the Tasman Union, will act as a coaching resource for the 2007 Rebel Sport Super 14.
The former All Black captain will continue in the Tasman role, while offering assistance to Crusaders coaches Robbie Deans and Mark Hammett.
Blackadder will be with the Crusaders at the start of each week and is sure to offer the Makos an important link into the Super 14 environment.
Meanwhile, pre-season training is already underway for the Crusaders. The players had their first collective training hit-out at Rugby Park this morning.

Blues choose controversial Troy Flavell as captain for upcoming Super 14 season- Mealamu in conditioning programme
The Blues have made a curious choice for captain for the upcoming Super 14 rugby season.
The controversial Troy Flavell has been named to take over from last season's leader Keven Mealamu. The change is due to the fact that Mealamu is involved in the All Blacks conditioning programme, which will keep him out of the Super 14 for the first eight weeks.
The aggressive Flavell has had a checkered past when it comes to on-field discipline, including a 12-week ban in 2003 for stomping
But Blues coach David Nucifora says Flavell is a natural leader and says he will captain the team with maturity and commitment.
He says Mealamu was not comfortable with stepping into the captaincy role after eight weeks on the sidelines.
Flavell says the team needs a captain from the start to the finish of the Super 14 season, ruling Mealamu out.
