Yeh my point being, that if it takes the crusaders another couple weeks to secure jarrod sammut or another suitable player, it will then take another further few weeks to work out the combinations...
meanwhile 5 or so games have been played not at a high enough standard.
I watched the crusaders vs catalans game, and i did see that lupton played halfback and withers at hooker.
Lupton did score a great try at the end, but unfortunately he did not get involved enough at all.
To me it seemed that although withers was playing at hooker, he was doing all the organising throughout the whole match, and not playing enough off lupton at halfback.
Witt played okay, his kicking game is great, and he was running the ball more than he did over here in aus.
Unfortunately witt plays his best when he has a genuine, controlling, organising halfback on his inside.
This then leaves witt to play his clever kicks, long balls, and a few runs himself.
Watching the way the crusaders played against catalans, i just dont think they will be able to match it come semi final time or against teams like leeds and warrington when competition points are hard to come by.
Either lupton needs to play more of a role, and more attack must be played off his hands, OR, we get jarrod sammut in the team immediately.
Mind you, sammut was never much of a halfback when he played their for penrith.
