Have I met him? He works on the telly, not as my own personal clown. He is an idiot and adds nothing to the game other than the odd shouty thing.
Right, so you have never met him and therefore have no justification for your claim that he has 'always been an idiot', thanks for clearing that up.

May I ask WireMan, how long have you held a season pass for Warrington? If it's longer than one season then you renewed it safe in the knowledge that if Warrington finished top of the pile at the end of the season they still wouldn't be the champions unless they won the GF. Now instead of me selling the concept to you, well, do I have to if you knew the rules and STILL renewed your season pass? How about you tell me why you renewed your season pass even though you were completely aware of the rules of the competition. Or are you a nouveau fan who doesn't know a knock on from a knock up? I said a few weeks back before the playoffs began that you were getting your excuses in early.

And I said they wouldnt beat a team with a good D, which they didn't :)

It's ok though, let him toast a glass of champagne to the Champions, Warrington. The rest of us will congratulate Leeds on going away from home by beating 4th, 1st and 3rd 3 weeks in a row as well as beating 4th on the Final day of the season too away.

Since the 20th minute of the cup final, Leeds have played the best RL out of anyone else in the league and as I said, it is what it is.

About 20 years and I probably will renew. But this the first time we have ever won it, hence the first time the issue had presented itself. The fact that no one can sell the concept to me doesn't bode well for the future growth of the game.

In his capacity as a commentator, the only capacity anyone but you are interested in, he has always been an idiot. If he was cheerful when he came round yours for tea, then big woops for you. Maybe he can play santa at your xmas party or something.

Toasted it ages ago. Yup leeds have played the best stuff in the playoffs and are worthy winners of the playoffs. Congratulations. Still wasn't the league though.

If you want to believe that Warrington won the league this year then that's fine, the only person you are deluding is yourself. Presumably you were the type of child that couldn't take losing and used to throw tantrums and claim that anyone who beat you had cheated. Also, I'm not sure why you are asking strangers on a forum to try and convince you to renew your season pass. Your reason for renewing should be that you like watching the game every week and a season pass represents the best value for money to do that. If you don't want to go and watch then don't renew it, I'm not sure why you think anyone on here would really give a f**k either way?

I thought i'd ask people on here (a public forum for debates) to see why they thought a system was good when I clearly don't.

What I got fron you was a load of childish garbage from you which amounts to "because it is" which tells me you don't know but your mate stevo says its good so that must be right. Its a bit sad really.

 WireMan - the only fan in the history of sport bitter, whinging and set to not renew his season pass because his team had a somewhat successful season! Normally fans drop off when a team performs horribly, not when they top the league. Was seeing them get beaten by a 'worse' team and fall out of the finals series - hence losing all chance of being champions - really that hard for you?

At least you can't say i'm a glory hunter.
In my world my team won the round robin league and lost in another comp. I've already said leeds deserved it. What I was asking really was for someone to tell me how they would sell the league, cause I don't see it. Crowds in aus work as they go up in the finals, in the uk they drop. Imagine wigan getting 7k in the league and only filling the ground in the playoffs. Thats the aus model. There is enough money so low crowds is ok in the league. In the uk if averages drop and the top clubs get a few big gates a year then the game will not survive. I am just wondering what i'm missing.

I will renew, but getting me to buy isn't what the game needs to grow. I was thinking more generally.

Oh and losing to leeds doesn't bother me, fairly irrelevant team to me unless we play them. Losing to wigan, saints, or widnes is where the real rage is at!!

I bet you wouldn't be complaining if roles were reversed, and Warrington finished 5th then went on to win the Grand Final.

You wanna bet?

I said everything about the comp before it started and Warrington were favorites. The Premiership is a good comp to win. The Challenge cup is a good comp to win. The League is the best comp to win. Well would be except sky need a final.

Anyways, it doesn't matter. The RFL won't change until sky say so.

On to the 2012 thread!! Via the international section of course!! :D

Post a link to your comments about how the champions are the ones that top the league at the end of the regular season. You know the one, it was posted in January.

So you want a first passed the post competition like the Premier League?

Are Melbourne the Champions this year?

Because next years WCC is Leeds v Manly, so your point is kinda rubbish?

The only team I remember getting carried away over being the minor premiers, is St George in 2009.

Melbourne won the league so yeah they won the league. Did they play everyone home and away?

If they didn't, then i can see why the playoffs are a great way to find the best team.
If they did, then yeah Storm are league champions in the true sense of the word.

The problem the game has in the UK is they are to many games but clubs don't want to lose home matches as they have no money. A loss of a few home games would probably put a few clubs under.

Thats what is stopping the game from either having 2 groups (east and west and going down the NFL road), or limiting the number of games (NRL Model).
Less games in the year mean you have to be on it more (less chance of coming back), and the intensity can increase because your less tired, but you know all that anyway.

If Warrington had only played 10 of the teams home and away then the playoffs are very good way to get the champions as a team could have an easier run. Warrington could of played the bottom 5, Wigan the top 5. But they didn't. So to compare with the NRL at the mo is silly.

If we get more sky money and some of this extra money can filter down to the clubs then we may be able to get way from a round robin league and copy the NRL model (except the 3 year franchises would actually make it better, but thats a different thread).

What need to heppen is the RFL has to make a decision on which model they want to follow. Premier league, NFL, NRL whoever. What they then have to do is follow it.
Not half ars*d like at the moment as you get a league like in football, except the bottom club isn't relegated and the top club isn't the winner. Which is an impossible sell to the new fans the game needs to attract.

The RFL seem incapable at the moment of doing it though. Their expansion plans have failed. To many clubs are still not improving facilities and importing average Aussies. The only development for the national game is the inclusuion of foreign trained players. Playoff crowds are woeful, the challenge cup crowds were not brilliant (but again thats a different thread).

Any thoughts on this anyone? Where do you all see the game going as we enter 2012?

People watch RL because they like the sport, not because of the format the competition takes. And nobody appears to have any sort of problem with the format apart from you. Why would we want to copy the NRL model? There aren't as many teams in Super League so attempting to replicate the NRL format would be stupid, it wouldn't make any sense at all to do that. The rest of your post was, on the whole, complete and utter BS and I'm absolutely certain that you wouldn't have made a post like that if Warrington had won the league this year.

People watch the game eh? Wigan got 7k (yes 7k) for there last home game of the season. So your right everyone loves the format. Except for the 12k fans that didn't bother to turn up.

14 teams is loads different at the moment to the NRL so i can see why to even entertain the idea is stupid. I mean its not like players are complaining about to many games or anything and being worn out by the end of the comp.

Or you think everything is alright? You must do.

Well here is to a sold out a Wembley in a few weeks and full houses all round for super league, plus expansion around the country, because its all great and i'm talking BS. If it doesn't happen of course then maybe not...

We will have to wait and see and report back then.

No, where have I ever implied that Wembley will sell out, or that every Super League club sells out every week? Are you seriously claiming that the only measure of success is having every single RL related event sell out, and that anything else is failure? You've already made yourself look absolutely stupid on this thread, and I don't think even you know what you are trying to argue any more. British and Australian fans alike are laughing at you because it's quite obvious that this whole dummy-spit would not have happened had Warrington not lost in the play-offs. I don't know what you are trying to achieve by continuing this, but honestly you are digging a deeper hole for yourself.

But all of the teams in the SLE played an extra game at Cardiff therefore it was an uneven playing field and thus endorsing the playoff system to decide who the champions are. You yourself have just confirmed this. ;-)

Oh dear. It would of been easier for you to say you don't know what we should do or where the game is going. Its ok, i'm just bitter and every fan loves the current set up, hence the sell out for wigans last game.

Yeah, someone could of said that when I first said it. Oh well, i'm thinking in general terms now. To late

You do know there are other ways to watch a game besides actually going, right? You know, like a TV.
