Super League on TV in Oz?

Last season Channel 9 took the rights to broadcast Super League from Fox and then did a half arsed job of showing the sport

I have just through Channel 9's programming for Sydney for the next 7 days and although the Super League kicks off this Friday, I can't see that any games are scheduled to be shown

Fox Sports also dont seem to be showing it

Has the sport been abandoned by the broadcasters here or will Nine be showing the occasional game if they feel like it?

What's happening? Anyone know?

Thanks to Broncodroid for the telephone numbers of Channel 9

Just rang Channel 9 programming department and the response I got was

"yes we're showing the Super League this season, but we don't have any dates yet"

I asked if that meant that it would be aired once the Cricket games had finished and his response was

"yes, I assume so"

Absolutely brilliant :facepalm:

I think the delay is more to do with the extensive Winter Olympics coverage.

They could still put it on in the early morning instead of Antique Roadshow or some B Movie.

Whats the point of taking the rights if they hardly show any games, and when they show them its on the worst possible time, 2pm the same time as the NRL game?

Fair dinkum Ch 9 are scum, it was much better on Foxtel, at least they would replay it a few times.

Channel Nine's always been an absolute joke. What do you expect, its called Australian Television. I lived in Australia for 12 years and their TV hasn't improved one bit in all that time.

No doubt they'll put Super League on at some stage in their cheesy canned American format, sandwiched between two and a half men with numerous woeful ads throughout their broadcast..

I also note too the All Stars game was played in quarters. I expect its to allow for yet more add breaks in years to come.

I think you'll find it was because of the heat, you know being summer and all and Australia......

Channel Nine's whole coverage of Rugby League is half arsed crap, gee i hope another channel gets the rights and shows all games live.

Yeah at least Fox Sports done a good job of showing the ESL, and when the finals came around, they showed them live, which was really good, but channel had delayed BS as usually.

Bradford v Wigan was on this morning at midnight

Whilst the Rugby League is back on Channel 9 this Sunday DAYTIME, the Super League is NOT.

They are showing a matinee film called "the yearling" instead.

WANKERS

As for next Sunday night, well a show called "Bizarre ER" is on at 11.30pm and it's anyones guess what is on after midnight.

The Hull KR vs Wakefield game is on midnight sunday. They still should have the other game on 2.00 before NRL though. And what is wrong with showing the game live early Saturday or Sunday morning like they said they were going to, I'm sure no one will miss the infomercials or whatever. Midnight Sunday is terrible I heard the score Saturday morning.
