Definitely feels like that comeback from 22-6 down exposed that theory further. No doubt there's structure you need to have, but how many teams have tried to be Penrith and failed? That's how we have felt this year. More offloads, more trying to beat people one on one, taking on the line etc.
Structure and system are needed in defense getting everyone on the same page.
But attack, working to a plan (more than 1) but playing eyes up football and support play is a must.

I think the team needs to realise that they’ve earned the right to take chances more often. Our fundamentals are good, we march upfield better than just about anyone and get ourselves into attacking positions, so it’s ok to burn the occasional tackle taking a chance on a play, and especially when we’re in the red zone.

Randomly I noticed Herbie Farnworth getting pretty much zero love on the field the other night even though he totally set up the Broncos first two tries. I reckon he may have diddled someone's missus or something.
All that Broncos unearned ego is bound to go astray. I wish I was at Suncorp just to see the frosty interplays!

bumping this for 2025.

as we enter into a new year, as I said in another thread, I don't think Webster and co automatically get the benefit of the doubt. Over the last few years, he's had that plenty. 'In Webby we trust'. I really, really hope this year is a success and I still think this guy can coach- but I'm very much needing to see some bounce back from last year, which was a debacle.

Yea agree… earned some deserved leeway after '23, but absolutely back to square one now. Not just him either, the entire coaching staff should be on notice. Including - as awkward as it might end up - the Kiwis coach.

Some key things I'd like to see:

More variation on attack, in particular more second phase play. Webby seems to have a real aversion to offloads; we've finished 3rd bottom in the last two years, yet interestingly, hyper structured teams like Penrith and Melbourne finished top 5 in both those years.

Better management of injured players. No repeat of the SJ situation where guys keep playing injured and then worse, come back while still injured. Show more faith in the squad - he built it after all.

And then my pet peeve - pick n stick for RTS. Give him a job and leave him there. Stop using him as a bloody band aid. The dude is still a very very good footballer... let him show it.
