Merge their hull clubs? That is probably the biggest rivalry in rugby league, that will never, ever happen.

Certainly not by force.... And I don't think they'd do it voluntarily unless in dire straits.

It is so dull watching the same clubs make the semis every year over there. Leeds just amble along until the finals come and then boom! A totally new side emerges. Dull. So predictable.

Just watched it. Hooray!

Pretty nice ground at Warrington.
Btw which is St Helen's derby? I'm sure they said this game was a derby, then later they said watch next week for Saints derby with Wigan? And Warriingtons derby with Widnes?
Every game a derby these days???

Wigan, Widnes, St Helens & Warrington are in the same geographical area, so any games between these sides are technically Derbies although Warrington v Widnes and St Helens v Wigan are probably the TRUE derbies due to history etc.

Hull KR v Hull is another

Castleford v Wakefield is another

Leeds v Bradford is the other

Yes, Leeds, Bradford, Castleford and Wakefield are in Yorkshire, but Leeds and Bradford are almost the same town and Castleford and Wakefield are within walking distance (if you have good shoes).

You got Leeds/Bradford and Castleford and Wakefield the wrong way round here.

Great weekend of SL action.

Entertaining matches played before big crowds in great stadiums with fantastic atmosphere.

More please.

Catalans look great this year, as do Hudds.

Those that say only 4-6 teams can compete, I disagree. I think Leeds, Hull, Hudds, Catalans, Wigan, Wire, Saints and Bradford are all contenders. Widnes and Salford are on the up and will be challengers in a year or two.

Cas and Wakey, I think only one of those is really needed, so I think whichever of these teams gets a stadium should stay, the other should go. Hull Kr should also go. They have financial issues and are crammed full of imports. No need for them in SL. Thus I think a 12 team league is the way forward.

In saying that, the games ive seen so far this year has been class. But axing Hull KR and one of Wakey/Cas would improve the league considerably, both in quality and financially.

I think on a weekly basis that all it would take to fix the English game's problems is for someone to say 'right, you lot of boring, whining, gloomy fecks, work together for once and not for your own best interests.'

How so? I was saying that Leeds vs Bradford is one Derby and Castleford v Wakefield is another Derby both in geography but also in history and size etc

Well that's what I was trying to say - maybe I put my foot in my mouth again?

My god did I enjoy the St Helens v Wigan game that I recorded from EuroSports - what a cracker of a game

I have also recorded the Hull derby and Warrington v Catalans.

Bloody excited to have Super League back - only downside is I dont have access to record on TiVo, just the Foxtel IQ, so I have to go to the back of the television watching queue to see any of it.

Leeds and Bradford are two cities in close proximity, the wider boroughs of Leeds and Bradford are the 2nd and 5th biggest in England respectively. Wakefield and Castleford are literally part of the same town, they are both part of the City of Wakefield. Your ideas were right, it's just the way you described them would have been better the other way round.

I'm there with you Lambretta, fantastic to have 3 games and replayed a couple of times as well, just started to record the games on my IQ and saw the Catalans game last night. What a fantastic atmosphere at Perpignan, it was a record crowd and the noise generated was deafening, I had the hairs stick up on my arms every time the crowd went beserk after Catalans scored.

Ahhh, I get what you mean now

It's funny, the sprawling cities that are Leeds and Bradford virtually merge into one another. Whereas there are green fields between Castleford and Wakefield town centres.

Anyone know if any Challenge Cup action is being televised this weekend, here or on BBC over there?

Never mind, found it. Tomorrow night Cas v Fev and Saints v Widnes.
