Not sure I'd trust Matthew Johns... I'd want to hear it from the UK officially first!

how does it have to be salford?

no offence to Widnes they are a great club, but I would have thought with Salford backing from Manchester, new stadium and a certainty for fans for 3 years....would have been great for RL in Manchester to be reborn.

Matty Johns just said on the footy show that the teams will be Widnes and Celtic into SL next year.

I don't know how he knows, but the plot thickens.
Yeah I heard that. I reckon he was just predicting the two teams but said it as tho it was fact. I'd personally like to see the current 12, as well as Toulouse and Salford. Crusaders need more time IMO.

As much as I like Matty Johns it sounded like he was speaking out of ignorance more than anything... my guess is he saw an article on the expansion, saw those two names and mis-read it as though they were the two new teams not two of the potential candidates.

Meanwhile, it looks like an unbelievably hard choice... I don't envy the people making it.

Also -- Is it Seltic Crusaders? I've been saying Keltic all this time... probably because of the alliteration more than anything.

Celtic FC (soccer) is pronounced Seltic. But who knows, Celts for example, can be pronounced Kelts.

given how much resources the RFL have pumped into wales in the past 2 or 3 months i think the crusaders already have a spot in the bag

It's pronounced Keltic over here.

Widnes are in prime position to be 1 or the 2 teams...new stadium will put them ahead of Salford.. Celtic will get in for Wales influence.. Huddersfield for me are a team under pressure for crowds.

hudds are in for sure, dont even bother with that.

new ground, birthplace of RL and they are averaging just under 8000.

hudds are showing good solid growth each year

If Widnes make it I'll neck myself. Salford are a must for the Manchester market and either Celtic or Toulouse for an expansion. Although, I wouldn't mind if Widnes replaced Castleford or Wakey.

i dont mind widnes, but id rank them behind toulose, celtic and salford.

my guess would be salford and celtic plus the current 12, with widnes the outside chance and toulose waiting until 2012

i dont think a current SL club will miss out as they are all doing well enough

cas and wakey would be the only ones that could miss out from the 12, i dont think hull kr are much chance of missing out with their crowd average over 8000 and the only thing holding them back being the ground
