Funny comments on the Fox Sports article. Too many people who have been listening to Phil Gould.

LOL at the Aussies getting tetchy :)

No one anywhere mentioned which league was better. They just said the Super League was more entertaining, which it is.

Sunday league football may be more entertaining most games than the Premier League. It doesn't mean a pub team from Leeds would beat Man U does it

The worst team in the NRL are better than the worst teams in Superleague, so the league is a better one.

That said, the Super league is a lot more entertaining and is better to watch. The top teams are just as good as the top teams in the NRL.

The hype over some of the plays in the NRL is funny, half the vids of great tries are standard in the UK, and a lot of tackling in the centres in the NRL is not at a higher standard at all.

One thing the NRL has to watch is that it doesn't stretch its talent to much. The tips for the bottom all look weak, you have the likes of the sharks with a terrible backline tipped for top 8, so the gap is not quite as big as people make out. Any expansion will just make the teams worse as there is not a huge pool of Aussie players waiting to go back over and make a difference.

If the salary cap goes up 50% in the NRL in a couple of years I think it's the SL that should be worried about falling standards. All this other conjecture about which is better, whether SL clubs are up to NRL standard etc etc is just subjective and unprovable talk. But when the money begins to talk, and it already is, we'll see where the best players end up.

SL are already worried about where there players end up. Not only are they going to the NRL but they are been targeted by Union to a much greater degree than Aus players are.

Depsite that, i still think the Super League is more entertaining. Its not as good technically or intensity wise, but more entertaining.
To me, as a mug who pays to go and watch the games thats the most important part. To a TV audience, its probably not as important.

The atmosphere at grounds seems better at Super League games also.

IMO though i have not been to a NRL game. So i am happy to change that if people who have say so.

50%? That's quite a hike. Think this feed is continually moving away from the point of the article, that being; Superleague is more entertaining to watch. They've certainly become quite different styles of play, especially as the defensive wrestle that coaches like Brown and Maguire brought to SL was criticised and bemoned by other clubs and ultimately, the RFL. There's also the point that SL fans get more to watch too - much to the detriment of the international game.

Think Wireman touched on this but I'd have to say I'd proabably prefer watching a Eels v Raiders game (taking two poorly performing teams from last year) than say Wakey against London. Then again, the NRL will never compete with the atmosphere at any game between the likes of Leeds, Wigan, Wire and Saints. I was at both Melbourne v Warriors games last year and the 30k capacity stadium at AAMI park was good, but still not a patch on a packed Headingley, DW or HJ. Hopefully the new langtree will create a similar atmos for the Saints.

A 50% salary cap hike in the NRL might be the best thing to happen to Britsh RL in years.

The resultant antipodean player drain back to the NRL would also be accompanied by a larger number of British players igning for Ausie clubs. The resultant vacuum left in the British game would be filled with young British players and that would only strengthen the pool of Tallent available to the international team.

They would be replaced by British players that wouldn't previously have been good enough, that wouldn't be a good thing.

Might turn the ESL into the A-League though...

Entertainments a matter of opinion. Personally I love ESL but I think NRL is more entertaining. I enjoy seeing the arm wrestle and the struggle. I think sometimes tries in ESL are easily earned and a little cheap, which I don't find as entertaining as a hard earned try. But as I say a matter of opinion. I still watch ESL.

Warriors v Melbourne at AAMI? I don't think that is particularly representative of a top NRL game for atmosphere... Neither team have been around for all that long and they both hail from outside the League heartland (QLD and NSW).

For a true taste of NRL atmosphere you'd be better off watching, say, Manly v a top flight Sydney club at Brookvale, or St George v Caterbury at Kogarah, or a big game at Leichhardt, the SFS or up in Brisbane... Just stay away from Testra stadium!

I've never watched a game in the UK (although I'd love to), but I imagine the big games here in Sydney would measure up, particularly those held at packed out smaller grounds between established and competitive clubs.

I'd like to see some of those games, but they seem to play in those smaller grounds less and less. Looking forward to Origin 3 at suncorp this year, but I'm confident none of these games match the atmosphere of a big ESL game. The lack of chanting/singing in Aussie crowds might be a key to this - same applies at an Ashes test. Barmy Army provide a great atmosphere

I find the NRL more entertaining. You see much more athleticism in the NRL then the Super League. It's intensity is higher, we have many more close games. It's just a superior competition in every way. IMO.
