Did some preliminary investigation into a WC trip to Brazil next year... it's f**ked.

The Brazilian government want to use the cup as a nationwide tourism platform, and have scheduled EVERY group match in a different city. With the size and state of Brazil, not only is that tough on the players, but with Brazil's 3rd world infrastructure it means it would be extremely difficult and expensive to watch all 3 of Australia's group games. They can get f**ked then, I can only imagine the nightmare the poor travelling fans will have to endure.

Our 2006 group matches were all in different German cities, requiring travel. I'd imagine it's standard tournament practice? But yes, it's more expensive to move around than stay put... we hired two cars between 7 of us, and took tents and stayed in camp grounds in each of the match cities.

You are right, but in a country like Brazil it may have been wiser not to.

Can't blame them for trying to milk the tournament, but they have frighteningly bad infrastructure (including roads)

They did taste yucky and they glorified
cigarette smoking to kids.

So did Peter Brock's Marlboro sponsorship (and he smoked himself up until he went all Cliffy in the mid 80s). I worshipped the ground Peter Brock walked on as a kid, and I knew Marlboro was a cigarette company, but I never had the slightest inclination to light up. My other motorsport hero, Ayrton Senna, had the same sponsorship.

Oh, and the Winfield Cup.

I hope for their sake that you no longer support any particular driver..

Things don't end very well for those that you have in the past.

Final exam tonight at 6:45pm. The phrase 'shitting oneself' is feeling appropriate.

My final exam for the semester is at 1:30.

Couldn't be a more boring piece of crap either.. It's going to be painful.

If you weren't a Saints fan, I'd hunt you down and give you a bit of the Paul Gallen treatment for that comment. Bastard. :p

On the bright side.. Post exam drinks start at 4:01 !!

Oh man, I wish I could get in on that.

I have a not-so-flash bottle of white chardonnay (one of our unlabelled brands) at home as a night cap. I'd love to get stuck into some of the better stuff in my wine cooler but given I'm getting home at 9:30pm, I just can't justify cracking a bottle.
