"Every chance he got" happened to coincide with the resting of players like Ponting and Gilchrist. I don't think he ever wanted the captaincy, I'm just saying that with his personality and attributes on the field I think he could have made a very good one

I'm also counting what I saw from him with WA. Just never seemed comfortable, happy, or able as a skipper...Great batsman, awesome bloke, and his dropping was a travesty. But from what I saw, not a captain

Getting Katich axed was a bit of a dick move on Clarke's behalf

I agreed at the time tbh. I was pretty WTF about it. But Kat showed that it was the right call with the absolute garbage he carried on with after his dropping...

He had every right imo. He got dropped because he wasn't mates with the vice captain, despite being the most consistent batsman at the time. And you're telling us he's not that type of captain.

And he got replaced by Davey f**king Warner ffs!

I think I said earlier last week, half the attraction of the tour is hoping Contador drops off a mountain.

I get the impression that Clarke doesn't often agree with the selectors actually...especially given he stood down as a selector...

Anyway Kat is a lunatic. Sad, because he could have fought back.

Who has done better than basically anyone that isnt named Clarke and is available for the top 6 at present.

I know he plays too aggressively at times but shit, he batted pretty well alot of the time as well. His last three tests in India were poor, he's very much on his own there

Not that I dont love the Kat, I just think Warner gets treated way too harshly just because he came from T20 originally. Good batsmen.

Agreed tbh.

That session at the WACA against India may be the best knock I've seen in Test cricket in terms of taking a game away from a side...but then that 100 in Hobart was pure Test cricket.

And I would say Froomes acceleration/non-cracking would be classed as suspicious. His time over that climb was similar to those of the likes of Lance and Pantani and Contador.

I also disliked Sky going against the rules/spirit of the tour with the feeding up the climb.

What I like about Clarke is that he isn't afraid to experiment with his bowlers and field settings. I believe his decisions have generated more opportunities than when Punter was captain of this mob and while I wouldn't go as far to mention him in the same breath as Waugh he deserves plenty of respect.

I can understand why he's perceived to be a certain way though. There was definitely a period where his immaturity got in the way of his ability. Wasn't the first and won't be the last cricketer to behave in that manner.

I was never a fan of Katich. He deserved better but honestly...he was a solid player who suffered a major injury and was nearing retirement. He seems like a very bitter person and you don't want that in the team environment.

With that said, there are plenty of weeds in that team at the moment and honestly I have little idea on how Australian cricket is going to recover in the short term.

TL;DR - Leave Clarke Alone!! Katich is Crazy and Watson is a prima donna.

Froome just pisses me off because he's another African who decided he wanted to be English

One of the only good things about Clarke as a captain is he's willing to experiment. He has that over Cook that's for sure who clearly isn't a fan of changing his game plan. That said I really don't think you could give any other player captaincy.
