SGL's not the only one looking for a new job. Yum! Restaurants (Pizza Hut's parent company) have decided that our call centre isn't viable anymore (due to people ordering online), so it'll be closing in January next year. Found out officially yesterday, but iut's been rumoured for quite a long time (years actually; I'd dearly love to know where the original rumours came from). Can't really complain. I've been there long enough to qualify for long service leave, plus due to not taking anywhere close to my entitled annual leave each year, I've got a big chunk of that I'll be paid out as well. And a redundancy payment. 5 months notice is also more than I imagine most companies would give in this kind of situation as well. They're also offering to link us up with employment opportunities within Pizza Hut stores or other call centres in Brisbane if we're interested. I was a bit surprised by that, though I suppose there's a benefit for the company and for the franchisees, now that the stores will have to handle their own calls, to have an obvious pool of people to draw on who already know the company and are trained specifically in handling calls.
