This.

I try not to watch AFL but whenever I happen to see it, all I ever see are blokes running around, fumbling a ball along in front of them. Imagine 20 different groups of seagulls squabbling over 10 different chips in a paddock and that's what AFL looks like.

Then occasionally someone manages to hold a ball and even get a kick on it and that makes the highlight reel.

Considering that the basic premise of the game is to catch and then kick a ball, it's remarkable how rubbish the general AFL player is at each of these skills.

/ED rant.

The reason for this is the ball is contested unless a clear mark has been taken. A bit harder to kick and catch when there's 18 players who are able to interfere with the kick and the catch. And once the ball is on the ground, it's fair game for anyone. Essentially AFL is a slightly more civilised version of kill the dill with the pill. The claim that it requires no skill at all is straight up trolling however.

There is definitely skill in AFL.

Like the skill of trying to kick it between the big posts and missing.

But at least they get a point for trying

Hey, don't sully the good name of Kill the Dill with the Pill by mentioning it in the same paragraph as AFL.

Tell them you're a stout liberal supporter too, then troll them with the Coalition NBN policy before quoting Menzies:

As the etymology of our name 'Liberal' indicates, we have stood for freedom. We have realised that men and women are not just ciphers in a calculation, but are individual human beings whose individual welfare and development must be the main concern of government ... We have learned that the right answer is to set the individual free, to aim at equality of opportunity, to protect the individual against oppression, to create a society in which rights and duties are recognised and made effective.

... and emphasising the equal opportunitity of assylum seekers, the protection of the individual assylum seeker against oppression, the creation of rights for the people where the government stops restricting my rights and highlight that welfare and development should be the main concern of the government.

Trust me, it will be a hoot if you do it well :)
