My f**king knee is killing me. Called in sick and my boss, in a fit of either laziness or annoyance with me being unable to teach, made me call the replacements for him. It's times like this I'm glad I'm friendly with all of my co-workers.

Job interview on Monday.

Got an eMail today from another potential job. "Dear Nathan, You sound like an excellent candidate except for the fact you seem to be studying a very time demanding course, we require someone who can actually commit and does not study as intense of a course so we have to decline you. Best of luck"....no words.

My first response would be to reply with a picture of your ass captioned "study this"

Lol I had a similar situation about 5 years back. There was an internal position going that I appled for but they rejected me because I contemplated at the time to do an electrical degree. In the end I won both ways. The position disappeared after two years and If I did the degree they would have tried to make me a manager and I couldn't imagine being one.

You'll find a better job.

I remember getting in trouble for asking to start and finish work half an hour earlier so I could attend a course I was paying for that would benefit the company I was working for.

My drunk (then) girlfriend reamed my boss out at a work function and suddenly it was all good.

I know I'll find better. Don't doubt that. I've got design work in the mean-tim as well, so that's certainly helping me out along the way to make my life easy. It's just...funny. You think someone studying a stronger degree would have the potential to have a higher skill range, one that can equate to workforce related tasks and such. Funny thing? It's not the first time I've had such reply. In the end, I'm not changing what I study to get a short-term job when in the end I get a much, much better job potential doing my studies. Studies > All.

I'm sorry to hear that mate :( That sucks the big one.

After working my ass off this year for the company, they decided to give me a measly pay raise that was somewhat insulting to my efforts.

I negotiated a half day off instead for no loss of wage to study my degree next year (provided I pass the exam this semester ). It ended up working out but they realised I had them over the barrell due to the poor increase they offered.

Sometimes, as your then drunk ex probably realised, its about presenting the facts in a way where they see they have no choice.
