So our oven died last Sunday. I tried a few things but couldn't get it to work. So we arranged for my father in law to come look at it today. He's a qualified electrician. We pull the oven out, he tests the connection and determines it's not getting any power. We go out to the fuse box and he tests the fuse there and finds plenty of power. So conclusion is reached that something has probably chewed through the cable at some point. So we go back into the kitchen and he starts looking inside where the oven day, trying to see where the cable goes. Meanwhile, there's a random switch next to our microwave. We've had the house for a year now, and I've never know what that switch did. We also have some outdoor sensor lights that seem to be on all the time, so last Saturday I think "this switch must be for those lights", so I flick it off.
It wasn't for the lights...it was the oven switch. All week we've been thinking the oven is broken, when in actual fact I've only just turned it off
I'm such a genius
