I wonder if they thought of instead of having 2 sydney and melb teams, have a nsw country and vic country and a syd city and melb city named teams? Play all the games out of the same stadiums though. Might spur people who are from the regional areas originally but whom live in the city now to want to come to a game. What makes a person a sixer or a thunderer?? Having some reason to identify with a team would probably spur more people to take an interest. If the QLD Country Cockslingers had a team play put of the GABBA i would be there for every game. Brisbane Heat can go get f**ked.

I'm not a fan of cricket but the idea of a generic country side playing all home matches in a city stadium seems like the most plastic idea ever.

I don't think any superficial name changes would fix that perception either RHCP.

It's just the nature of the competition, everything is designed to appeal to the cricket casual and draw in money.

The domestic competition is never going to have any prestige, it's just a decent way to waste three hours when there's nothing else on the telly.
