Not yet, said he would be in touch with me sometime this week. Not expecting any good news until the new year as it is the worst time of the year to do this in this industry. usually any projects starting early to mid next year would have had bids goen in already and will be assholes and announce who has won it until after the break so the staff have no idea where they are going next and cant plan anything for the new year.

I couldn't give a shit where it is TBH, aslong as its for a decent time period and can have a crack at having some sort of life again. Working in shitholes for weeks on end then flying back to a place that just depresses you isn't healthy. Need to get dafuq out of brisbane

Why does Brissy depress you?

Why does Brissy depress you?

a.) it's a shithole

b.) the reason i live there is because i got transferred to a bid team in an office there from the project i was on in cardwell up in NQ because in the space of a few days i had the local hick sergant that just hated abigroup and got pretty much everyone on site with atleast one bullshit fine completely rape me out of my license and my car and then had a heart attack a few days later and was actually dead momentarily. Got to sit out a good chunk of my suspension and spend a few months getting back to full health again.

For a place that i never wanted to be it's an awesome thing to remember everytime i wake up there. Last two projects have been fly in-fly out and brisbane is the only option for the destination so ive been stuck there.

Well point a. is subjective (Ive been to a lot of places in Oz and I can tell you Brisbane is far from shit hole status in comparison) but I can understand your point b.

Well unless you move back to where your family/friends are, that situation isnt going to change. I went through a similar thing when I moved up here. Get yourself out there bro and meet some people, maybe join a club to find some like minded folk

BTW, neither Ipswich or the sunny coast are too far to travel for some pu-tang bro ;)

it is when you dont have any wheels lol

These aren't teh casual types either. If i get a gig in sydney i can spend more time with my brother which would be pretty good, otherwise im jsut keen to start over somewhere new and do it very diffrently this time. Maybe if the setup is right get myself another dog

Sometimes its what we need bro

I moved from Wollongong to Brissy to be with my misses whom I met in London. Even though it meant leaving my family and best friends, it was the best thing I have ever done. Probably the ballsiest decision Ive made in my life

Careful though, you might end up married with twins lol

There's a hell of a lot more to do in Brisbane than Canberra, however...and the climate is way more agreeable

There is sweet bugger all to do in Brisbane. There is more things to do in Civic than in Brisbane.

The weather is better than Canberra though, I do agree.

Brisbane has better restaurants and bars IMO. Fortitude Valley is ordinary, it's basically Civic with a bit less violence and a bigger choice of bars and drunk food, but even that is better than Canberra. Within easy drive of lots of things (whereas Canberra is within easy of drive of the south coast, which is great, but nothing else of note), Moreton Bay and the river right there for those of us who are quite happy to spend hours fishing, regular sporting events....and so on.

Canberra has Civic and some museums, and the odd Raiders or Brumbies game which not even Raiders or Brumbies fans bother to attend
