Said that up the thread.

You never know, these players + Hayne and Hopoate mightn't win the spoon.

I'm impressed. I know 9s has little relevance in the season in a lot of ways...but the attitude looks really good. Semi and Kenny Edwards were fantastic in the first game. Missed the second. But Sandow looks relatively fit, Norman looks good, the young guns look pretty happy. Again, 9s is a totally different thing but for a wooden spoon side and a new side in many ways I think something like this can be important in terms of getting some combos and form and we've done that I think. It'll be tough against genuine opposition though

I think Eels fans should be reasonably optimistic about taking a couple of steps forward this season.

For me the biggest question remains the forwards, especially over 80 minutes when the grind is on. If Hayne/Hopoate stay fit and their halves are even slightly competent I think they've got enough young talent and speed to score points. It's the other end that would be the concern I imagine, especially if the forwards aren't restricting metres.

Fui killed it in the second. Sandow showed more vision than he has in years. They'll roll the Broncs as well I reckon.

Let's be honest, the only way for the Eels is forward.

They can't get much worse, although it would be hilarious

The forwards are a worry but I think we have a lot of room to do well there too. Mannah is always good, Fui if he rips in is one of the hardest runners around. Lussick was actually excellent last year despite getting a lot of criticism. It'll come down to how the young guys and the rest go. Kenny Edwards looked great in the first game today and in the trial, Terepo and Tanginoa will have some experience under their belt.

My biggest concern is the halves. If Sandow gets all fat and gambly again and Norman/Kelly doesn't work then we're f**ked.

Despite barely being able to move after work yesterday I'm in a surprisingly good mood.
