5:30 dawn service then 7am schooners..bring on ANZAC day

yep doing the dawn service down here in melbourne, and heading along for the obligatory beer or two with my mates afterwards..

then back home to be a good dad & husband before heading back out again for the dragons vs roosters match..

i love anzac day. one of my favourite days of the year, both from a reverence point of view (we have no idea how lucky we are not to have gone through that crap) and from a footy point of view (anzac day game is bigger than just the 2pts..)

did my first dawn service in 2006 and have been every year since.. even in the pouring rain..

it's an eeire, but awesome thing and i recommend to anyone to try it if you haven't..

Last year was the first dawn service I went to since I was a kid, feels good to pay my respects

I expect to be pretty f**kin wasted by the time the Dragons vs Roosters game starts though lol

6am beers for me after dawn service.

then regular beers throughout the day until I run out of money. Throw in a bit of 2 Up and hopefully I'll be too drunk to remember another one of our pathetic defensive displays

I've been to the past 4. Just depends on the day of the week it falls on as to whether I stay afterwards and drink or go home for a bit and only have a couple when I go back.

the year before last I turned up at 7am (slept in and missed dawn service). Drank from 7am till about 10pm and had to work at 6:30am the next day...was not in a good state at all

I would have no chance of getting away with it.

Last time I drank heavily on ANZAC day I wet dawn service, then beers straight away.

Drank constantly until the club closed at 10pm (made sure I had at least 2 cups of water every hour) so I was absolutely hammered but didn't have a hangover.

Also walked out with $100 still in my wallet. Winnings from 2Up covered the whole day

Got to speak at a Dawn Service a couple of years ago, not too many moments top it for that feeling of pride and reverence.

ive stayed up[ all night drinking and then gone to the dawn service without going to sleep before and then kept going until midday.

I shall be on the bike at about 3.30am to get to the service tomorrow and ten hang around until the folks come for the 8am march and have our traditional coffee and then i probably will wait until the afternoon to start drinking for the footy

Catching a train to Mortdale for the dawn service, beers and brekkie and two up at Mortdale RSL, then onto the train for a pub crawl to the footy, then hopefully make it home at some point...
